latest The Blood of Dawnwalker patch still hasn't addressed the issues with the combat it's honestly incredibly frustrating having such limited mobility and the most inconsistent lock-on system i've ever seen in a game it's the only thing holding it back from being damn near perfect

Skill issue. Watched the clip, you played it terribly and blamed the game. Limited mobility is a valid complaint, but why are you trying to play it like its a souls game. You can press a button to lock your lock on btw, not that its needed either

Your biggest problem (and it was mine, too, for the first 15 hours) is fighting a system that is not meant to be played the same way as all the other 3rd person games we've played before. This game is actually different in more than just presentation. You are actually *not* meant to move around. You are meant to *react* to incoming attacks. The combat system is all about presenting the appearance of a 1-v-many encounter. But that's just it: it's the appearance of it, not an actual 1-v-many. The whole thing is an illusion. The only thing you really have to worry about is 1 attack at a time. That attack may come from a flanking enemy, but you're still only have to deal with1 attack at a time. The game lacks mechanics (other than Broad Swing) to actually deal with a true hoard of freely acting enemies. If you play the game long enough and are observant, you start to understand how it's meant to work: It's really you vs. 1 enemy with the occasional flanking add. Once you realize this (and stop panicking at the sight of multiple enemies surrounding you) the combat starts to make sense. The game will ONLY ever send 1 attack at you at a time, with the possibility of that attack coming from an add flanking you. If you just focus on defending attacks and countering, that is all you need. That is the essence of the ebb-and-flow of Dawnwalker's combat. Your Active Abilities will often neutralize an opponent for a short period of time, causing your focus to shift to a different enemy. The game is VERY STICKY about who it wants you to attack next in those situations. I would like this to be less sticky so we have more control over who to focus on next (because this does suck when you're trying to focus on an enemy that leeches health while other minions are clogging the path toward them), but overall the real problem is the player fighting the system. So, don't fight it. Stop trying to force your character to attack who you want to attack, and instead start responding to incoming attacks. And if you do want to push an enemy off so you can focus on someone else, use your abilities to neutralize the current primary threat so your character will switch focus to a different enemy. This *is* a skill issue, but saying that feels derogatory and unnecessarily smug. I want to help you. Fight the system less and you'll get into the flow state.

Best tip I got for you, for now

combat is not a problem. its actually really good . just stop playing it like its every other rpg. let the enemies come to you . you dont have to walk around that much

You’re not really..meant to be able to move around easily. That’s not how sword fights works. Besides when you’re a vampire you literally get hacks. Time your swings, take advantage of the one free swing you get after each parry. The game is easy as shit even on challenging

Why are you dodging so much? You are supposed to Parry too. Dodging should only be used for unblockable attacks. I am having no trouble with combat.

Said in another post it’s duelist difficulty.

I see that, you got no direction indicators but if that means you're going to avoid parry and just rely on dodge then that's not how the game is meant to be played. Maybe lower it for practice and the increase it after.

I mean dodge exists to be used and you can’t really argue that any of the points I made are wrong. I’m not trying to avoid the parry but there’s an inherent risk reward to the parry on this difficulty that is even harder against large groups of enemies so you need to be able to strategically manage them with something other than just trying to parry spam them all to death

All I am saying is did you even try to use the stuff the game offers? All I see in your video is dodge spamming with no effort in parry or abilities and then blaming the game for being unforgiving on highest difficulty. Here is my first attempt, it was awful imho but still.

youre completely missing my point dude 💀

I get your points of invisible walls and some quirks with auto lock feature but it's still not as bad as you made it sound. I am sure they'll do QOL updates, it's their first game. my suggest maybe lowering the difficulty to challenging in the meantime, why frustrate yourself?

So you enter a area which for the most parts a guarantied combat scenario & then don't make any space between you and your enemies. don't make no attempt to use CC ability but its the games fault.

Honestly I just let the enimes come to be to get used to that. I just wished the invisible wall wasn't a thing. Sometimes I dont wanna be forced into a fight with some damn boars or wolves. Other than that, this game is my goty pick

Starting random encounters while roaming the world bas been the only frustrating thing about this game. Like your character is basically stuck in a lock on position hindering mobility and vertically. And at time you find yourself getting stuck by invisible walls. Incredibly frustrating that makes the game feel and look broken. Hopefully they can easily patch it and it is not a fundamental thing deep within the game’s core design.

And they gang up on you easily I beat Ambrus but got killed by Bakir soldiers

them ganging up wouldnt be an issue if you could move around freely honestly

Learn to fuckin play man.. stop crying like a child. The game has new mechanics, you're supposed to block sword attacks, not jump like a bitch... this is not Mario World.

You literally only get attacked one at a time so don't even need lock on.

Getting stuck on fucking rocks and minor inclines in hill/mountain sides (I should point out that my frustration comes from trying to get a legendary blade early on, with an enemy that had a red skull showing its difficulty)

Mobility is OK - walk, run, dodge, no jumping, though. Lock-on being janky I can agree - it does mess both with movement and attack directions sometimes. Dying to getting cornered and stuck? Most times is self-inflicted - 0:26 you had every chance to move away from the hole.

Be patient, it don’t need to be “Perfect” the game came out like yesterday 😂🤣

stop tying to dodge all over the place and parry

Yeah also the block directional thing is pain lol but once get used to it it works like charm

Stop fighting the lockon and go with whatever target ot pick for you. If you insist on a new target then pocket sand their face or life steal them

Bro is trying to play like it's a Souls game.

Yeah and the camera is ASS! I enjoy the game but man, this doesn’t help at all a maximum difficulty

You need to manually move your camera in combat, once you get used to that it becomes easier

Ive gotten used it i love it

I agree with this (I also don't like the 30 day timer). I can't tell you how many times I am trying to target one of the 2 guys directly in front of me only to continue targeting someone 20 yards behind them who is completely out of melee range. Then there is the locked camera angle that spins all over the place as the game decides randomly you need to be targeting someone new. I shouldn't even go into another mode when in combat. You lose the ability to jump? Do you know how many times I have tried to run from a fight at night only to find out I can't clear a knee high ledge to save my life when seconds earlier - before initiating combat - I was able to teleport and walk on walls.

Not a big deal. You can dodge for a half second invincibility.

Brother just parry? No? I see your on duelist but come on just say it’s to hard for you damn😂

Dude i just watched your clip your awful at that.. listen when you get backed up in a corner cuz your bad at foot placement and angles dont keep trying to dodge. Fuckin block!!!

WHY DO YOU NEED TO MOVE AWAY? WHY DO YOU NEED TO CONSTANTLY DODGE AND WEAVE?! YOU CAN PARRY. Only one can attack you at a time and the absolute worst that can happen is another swings during your counterattack but you can animation cancel into a block. You are bad.

The combat works exactly as intended. What do you want them to patch?

The lock on is really bad, i love the game but @DawnwalkerGame please fix this🥲

Broken AI too, you can totally kite the bosses to the she of their allowed range and they mostly just stand there and you can just spam your special moves as they cool down. The AI and lock and getting caught on obstacles need to be addressed.

omg the auto lock on and difficulty to switch targets drives me INSANE. Otherwise this game is fucking amazing

I am also on duelist and the combat is really not that difficult. Their swings come a little faster but it's just you taking more damage from a hit.

Sounds like a skill issue. (In all seriousness tho I can see how it could be frustrating for some. I wish it was easier to disengage combat sometimes too. Like no i didn’t wanna fight the three tatezelwurms just cause i was nearby them.
