It never ceases to amaze us how much families in Gaza make with so little. But they are tired, they don’t want to be placed on a pedestal and exalted for their strength and steadfastness. They should not have to be this resilient, they should not have to be this tough just so barely survive. We have to do more. Our wonderful community supports, but the world is failing Gaza. This mother who lives at the Tuyoor Muhajera or Migrant Bird Camp in Khan Younis, the smile on her face, because she is happy when a bag of fruit is provided?? She shows a small single pencil, warn down to the stub, that all her children use for their studies. Is this what the world deems ok? It’s not sufficient and we must do more. We have to lift the onus of being strong and resilient off the tired shoulders of our brothers and sisters in Gaza and bear the burden for them, not in charity but in solidarity.
