NVIDIA announces the first open humanoid robot reference design built for robotics research. The NVIDIA Isaac GR00T Reference Humanoid Robot combines the Unitree H2 humanoid robot, Sharpa Wave five-fingered hands for dexterous manipulation, Jetson Thor onboard compute, and Isaac GR00T open software and models, giving researchers a full-stack platform from data capture to model deployment. Follow us KABClub to learn more about young entrepreneurs. At a power substation in southern China’s Guangzhou, humanoid robots are taking over inspection duties. The robot was developed by a local robot maker, but the tech subsidiary of China Southern Power Grid has made modifications by itself, adding more sensors, enhanced hands, and greater AI computing power. While these humanoid robots and robot dogs are still in trial, automated and AI-powered inspection tools have already been widely deployed.

Don't you have a haptic chair for VR gaming? Don't worry, your friendly humanoid robot can help you with that! In a recent research paper from the University of Colorado, researchers experimented with using a humanoid robot to literally grab your chair and move it during VR racing sessions to make the game more realistic. And from the users' feedback, it seemed to work. I guess they took inspiration from those viral videos, where in some low-budget arcades, the owner literally moved the station with his own hands. They will handle tasks like fueling, picking up items, restocking, and inspections,working alongside human staff, especially during peak holiday periods in China to ease service pressure. With more than 30,000 gas stations across the country (most of them equipped with convenience stores), this implies a deployment of at least 30,000 humanoid robots. The robot is a wheeled humanoid developed by Beijing-based company FIVEAGES.
