This is not the only vision for what it looks like to have politics in this country—that is so divorced from the needs and wants of everyday people. And what we are looking to show in New York City is an alternative to what has led so many to become disenchanted with the political process. We want to show that not only can government work, but it must, and that at its core, our responsibility is to working people—to ensure that we’re doing everything to make their lives easier. Buttigieg: We didn't know it, but we've all been trusting our lives to the restraint of whoever the president might be. And now we have a president who is completely unrestrained. And so the only answer to that is a functioning Congress. It turns out we do not have a functioning Congress. The House of Representatives is not representative. One of the most important organs of our democracy is not democratic. They say, "Oh, no. We're not manipulating the map to disempower black people. We're manipulating the map to disempower Democrats who happen to be black people.” So, the time has come to make it impossible to manipulate the map for any reason and just have fair maps.

It does not go without saying that the people that they went after first are some of the most vulnerable activists in the United States, which is to say, pro-palestinian organizers and young people, especially those who who are on green cards or visas… And the idea that we would allow our freedom of speech to be violated and create exceptions to that for people who are advocating for the lives of Palestinians, it erodes at the very core of American identity, too, because this is a land of the free, but only as long as we defend it and make it so

Pearson: I'm the only person here who actually represents constituents and is beholden to them, and they're struggling. I can tell you right now that we need 55,000 units of affordable housing for people who make $17,000 a year. People are struggling. My great aunt is deciding whether or not she's going to pay for medicine or pay for groceries. You cannot say that the economy is doing well when it is doing well for billionaires, but the consequences of the action are coming home to roost. Because you know what? Farmers have retaliated against this administration's actions. And you know, what this administration has said it’s trying to do: give billions of dollars to them. If things are going great for people, they wouldn't have to take those actions. And what Republicans have done is give more money to the rich, the most powerful and the billionaires. And they've left working class people.

More incredible footage from the construction of the Empire State Building in 1932! Americans are some of the smartest, toughest, and most resilient people on the planet. We owe it all to our great grandfathers who built this country and fought to keep it free! Unfortunately, many of them are now not being treated with the respect they deserve. That is why I will continue to advocate for Justice for the victims of Camp Lejeune! Truly a heartbreaking story - I put all the information in the quoted post.

Never seen this video until today but boy does Milton Friedman nail it in 1978. In 1978, Milton Friedman explains that the government bears no responsibility for alleviating poverty and that’s it is up to individuals to take action. He argued that the most effective way for people to exercise this responsibility is through the free enterprise system and the free market, which, in his view, have historically been the most powerful tools for reducing poverty. Now you can argue today that we don’t have a complete free enterprise system and I agree with that, but I haven’t seen anyone get out of poverty once they get on that government crack of free money for nothing.

Never seen this video until today but boy does Milton Friedman nail it in 1978.
