🎬 Fun Fact: this scene from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood where Leonardo DiCaprio absolutely loses it in the car was one of the most intense performances of the entire film, and he actually improvised parts of that meltdown because Quentin Tarantino wanted it to feel as raw and unhinged as possible. the “mexican whistle” moment wasn’t even in the original script the same way — Leo kept pushing the emotion until it turned into that now-iconic breakdown.

If Leonardo DiCaprio doesn’t win the #Oscar for Best Actor, it will be yet another snub in a career filled with inexplicable snubs. How many times is the The Academy going to deny Leo an award he should’ve won? I still maintain Leo should win Best Actor this year- and years past.

On the 7th anniversary of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, I still think this is Leonardo DiCaprio’s best performance. Leonardo DiCaprio said last week he’s not returning as Rick Dalton in the Cliff Booth sequel. Leo has a strict “no sequel” policy but I’d still love to see him return as Dalton. It’s a great character that gave way to a great performance. Plus Brad & Leo have strong chemistry.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s performance as Howard Hughes in The Aviator would be the single biggest achievement for 99% of actors who have ever walked the face of this planet. For Leo, it’s just one of a long list of Earth-shattering performances. DiCaprio gives mind, body & soul to Hughes. He changes his voice, how he walks, how he moves- everything in order to get closer to Hughes. He holds down nearly every moment of a 3 hour film. For my money, Leo is better in this movie than he is in The Wolf of Wall Street. I’m starting to really, really get excited about the fact that a new Leo-Scorsese film is not far off in the distance.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood released six years ago today & with every rewatch, I feel affirmed in my belief that this is 1) the best Leo performance ever 2) the best Brad performance ever & 3) Tarantino’s best film. Disagree? I suggest revisiting this film. It’s perfect.
