Leonardo DiCaprio’s ability to bring in massive box office dollars allowed Martin Scorsese more creative freedom in the back half of Marty’s career in a way I never fully appreciated until #MrScorsese. Thank God Leo’s used his box office powers to work with Marty for 2 decades.

The older I’ve gotten, the more I’ve really appreciated the things Scorsese is going for here. Not only that, Leo gives a quality performance in the same year he also starred in Christopher Nolan’s Inception.

I still think there’s a chance/time for Marty to come out and reverse course here. I hope he does. Scorsese’s decision to embrace technology that uses & then replaces the hard work of everyday artists disappoints me to the highest degree. It also shocks me.
