As farmers, all we require is access to certified seeds and affordable fertiliser , a programme I initiated while in office. Since the time of the founding fathers of our nation, the Mountain has been one. The Mountain remains one, and it shall forever be one. We must therefore disregard the divisive talk of Mount Kenya East and Mount Kenya West. I call upon the residents of Meru to support our Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua and the Democracy for citizens Party (DCP). Today, when some of our people displayed printouts of the Pakistan flag to expose the betrayal happening on our own soil, three Muslim men shamelessly came forward and started chanting "Pakistan Zindabad" right in front of us. My main concern is this: these people have taken every possible benefit from this land — they enjoy our facilities, our schools, our hospitals, our jobs — they thrive because of our resources, yet when it comes to loyalty, they pray and offer duas for Pakistan. It is a nation where you are free to be a Christian — or any other faith, or no faith at all. The religious right would probably call the Founding Fathers ‘not real Christians’ given their beliefs. I think it's important that we remember our true history and we honor that that promise of America as a melting pot — E pluribus unum, out of many one. It's a promise we obviously haven't ever fulfilled, but it is one that we're still trying to fulfill.
