Wolfers is wrong on everything but tariffs, they are flat tax on the poor. For 30 years of my life, there have been advocates of a flat tax, you don't hear from them much anymore, perhaps this is them sneaking it through another way? Wolfers doesn't have the ability to think the issue through to it logical end, he can only knee jerk so far, but on the other hand, on this issue, he has done a better job than many on my side of the aisle @RealEJAntoni @RichAStern "If" Trump did the tariffs we would find out within months the impact of a flat tax on the poor and would be able to adjust quickly. Personally I think it is bluff but either way Trump is a smart guy and would move quickly if it turned out to be a disaster. Yes! When you consider that many working families live paycheck to paycheck, the tariffs are more of a regressive tax since upper income brackets don’t spend a good share of their earnings.
