Aether was doing well on his own while fighting the 3 moon power Dottore and when Aether was fighting Ronova with some lifted restriction from him, his power grows significantly. Even able to scratch Ronova in battle, it's what Aether couldn't do with Asmoday in the beginning.

Nod Krai would've lasted a whole three months if the Traveller was moving the same way they were moving against Ronova

Honestly, say what you will when he fought Ronova, having restrictions turned off of his elements and managing to even lay a scratch on Ronova? Thats, a lot better than you may think compared to the LAST shade he fought-

Traveler was doing much better against Ronova compared to Dottore. The 3 moons powers are superior compared to a single shade. Also considering the fact that Dottore has hardly any experience in fighting.
