OPINION: How bad is the tech reviewer market? You have mainstreamers literally angry at their viewership for not watching product or tech videos that they can't possibly afford the product in it. I am researching PC parts to update my build. I start watching reviews and a surprising amount came to light - - Tech market is in shambles thanks to a considerable number of things well ahead of the consumers. - If you think inflation is bad on the food shelves, take a look at the tech industry. - Some tech reviewers have started a mental collapse because they got used to the high life. Reviewing only kit for the rich. And now they are mad that viewers have stopped watching. REACTION TO CLIP: My thoughts on this and a reaction to one of the mainstreamers in the attached video. -What the reality is, is that tech reviewers have lost touch with the fact that the U.S people are struggling to make ends meet. - The last thing we want to see, is whining because we didn't make it to your sponsor clip to make you money. - When whining about viewership, it's a known fact that you don't drag a competitor that is doing better than you to whine about how you should be doing better. It shows underly pride issues. Just because you get to the top doesn't mean you can just lose touch with your actual tech base. -Most of these tech reviewers got big because they remembered the little guy. The reality is, for these tech reviewers, that's boring. Why do that when corporations are sending out thousands of dollars in kit meant for only the top percentile of consumers. It's fun to play with the latest modern tech. But when a consumer can't afford it, it just gets them depressed. So, these reviewers start laying on the guilty and blame, which drives away even more viewers. FINAL THOUGHTS: I purposely left out some of the more immature things. I really enjoyed Linus and learned to build a PC many years ago thanks to him. But I see a downward spiral happening for these mainstreamers that have gotten wealthy off of the tech market. Markets shift. I don't know what else to say. But it was defeating to see what I considered to be one of my main goes to people lash out and say that we are ignorant if we don't watch his reviews. That a large majority are buying parts without watching or reading reviews. Thats simple not true. The Tech YouTube market is saturated now. That's not the consumer's fault. I hope things turn around for a few of these mainstreamers. Linus is only an example. Not the only one. Linus Tech Tips Linus LinusMediaGroup #TechReviews #PCParts #PCBuild #NVIDIA #Example #Opinion

I'm a Polish-German media investor & entrepreneur who thinks that EVERY COMPANY NEEDS A CONTENT STRATEGY (i.e. part of your company needs to be a mini media co). Nowadays, every company realizes they need to post content on social media. Content builds trust and positions you as authority. But making content is hard: It requires a social media team. Staying up to date on trends. And figuring out how to turn views into leads (& cashflow). I realized that after growing a network of social media channels to millions of monthly views and selling it to private equity. Today, my agency ChannelCraft helps business owners build authority & increase sales using content. We have helped hundreds of companies generate millions of sales through videos on YouTube, shorts on Instagram or posts on LinkedIn. Our specialty is building 'content engines' for companies that position you as the obvious expert in your niche, attract inbound leads who already trust you, and build long-term brand equity instead of short-term ad dependency. The ChannelCraft team handles strategy, scripting, editing, publishing, and optimization. We also build the sales funnels behind your content assets - making sure that every view you receive turns into a lead (& cashflow). Some proof, real numbers: → Jake Claver's first video with us hit 100K views in 24 hours. Conversions up 400-500% through YouTube and Shorts content. → A leading tax advisory & wealth management form: views +115%, conversions tripled in 30 days through YouTube, Instagram and LinkedIn content. → A trader with zero audience closed a $5K client in month one. 190 subscribers on YouTube. Besides working with corporates, founders and business owners, we also partner with public institutions and national television networks, helping them reach audiences, customers, and future employees at a fraction of traditional media costs using YouTube and platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. I’m also the Managing Director of Deus Media Group, a buy-and-build network of business-focused media ventures. I have been featured by publications such as Fortune or Spiegel, guest lectured at institutions such as Fudan University and Shanghai University, and have been invited to serve as mentor to tech companies for multiple governments, such as Singapore (Enterprise Singapore programs) or Germany (GermanAccelerator programs). As a startup investor who lived in Shanghai for many years, I have helped 50+ technology companies penetrate the Chinese market. In the past, I have worked at top-tier companies in management consulting, venture incubation and as a founder across APAC and Europe. If you’re a business owner who wants content to become a predictable growth channel, send me a LinkedIn message and let’s talk💬

After two incredible years serving on staff in vocational ministry, I’ve made the decision to step away and transition into a new professional chapter. The flexibility this role has provided over the last couple of years has been an absolute lifeline for my family - especially as we navigated the complex medical needs of our daughter, born in late 2024. I am profoundly grateful for that time and space. Now, I’m looking to step back into a space that aligns directly with how I’m wired: High-Level Communication: Crafting workflows both internally and externally that connect and build community. Project & Systems Management: Designing, optimizing, and overseeing complex workflows. Detail-Oriented Execution: Diving into the micro-details to deliver macro results. Stepping into the unknown with three kids at home is certainly nerve-wracking, but it’s equally exciting. My background is diverse—I’ve managed social media accounts, worked in customer service as a tech specialist, been a podcast host of a major sports show, edited both long form and short form videos, and the list really goes on and on. What I’m looking for: I am completely open to various industries and am seeking remote opportunities - whether that looks like contract projects, part-time work, or a full-time role if the fit is right. The main priority is maintaining the flexibility required to continue prioritizing my daughter’s care. If you have an opening, know of an opportunity, or just want to swap ideas, I’d love to connect! 📥 Reach out directly via DM or 📧 Email me at: [email protected] Let’s see what’s out there! 🚀

There is one thing I would never recommend: spending all your time learning Figma. Let me explain this better. A while ago, a guy messaged me on WhatsApp. He said he got my number from one of my YouTube videos. He told me he had been a UX designer for three years, but no one had ever paid him to do any design work. I told him there were only two possible reasons. Either he had been very inconsistent, or he had spent those 3 years learning Figma. He admitted it was both. This was his usual pattern. Anytime he saw a friend get a job as a project manager, he would switch to PM. He would spend 3 - 4 months taking courses, then go for interviews. If he failed one, he took it as a sign that the path was not for him. Within 3 years, he had touched five different tech roles. This is very common with most immigrants trying to get into tech. This is the tech skill paying more, you jump in. Oh is not this one again, here are 5 tech skill that will pay you to sleep. You jump on it. All those aspire to megwaire to papaya. I won’t even tell you to “stay consistent.” At age 30 and 35, you have to learn how to start something and stay with it regardless of the outcome. Most freelancers don’t jump from pillar to post when they can’t get another gig after 3months. They stay in one lane, keep driving, and trust that anything capable of making you $20 today can also make you $100k if you stay long enough and play it strategically. Figma won’t save you from indecision. Knowing how to use it won’t even make you a ux designer either. Kwechiri… Onye kwe chiya ekwe (ask your Igbo friend the meaning).

Nicholas Thompson is a disciplined machine (Atlantic CEO, record-holding runner, perpetual achiever) and a wholehearted human (insatiable interviewer, loving father, lifelong student). I talked to nxthompson about what makes words worth reading in an AI world, the discipline of long form, and what compounds when you keep showing up. Nick is the CEO of The Atlantic, the American record holder in the 50K, and the author of The Running Ground—a book about inheritance, pushing oneself, and remembering that life remains richer than we can possibly know. We discuss whether I am a journalist; why The Atlantic matters, great editing and coaching; lessons from David Remnick and the gift of commercial constraints from Laurene Powell Jobs; daily momentum and how tiny tailwinds compound; getting paced to a 5-minute mile by his 15-year-old son; inheritance and Nick's exuberant, chaotic dad; the part of Nick's book that he's never been asked about; and why we are capable of much more than we think. .Mercado Libre is wild: - 18,000+ engineers (one of the largest engineering teams on the planet) - 30,000+ code deploys a day (more than most companies do in a month) - Valued at over $100B (the largest company in Latin America, and one of the top 150 most valuable companies in the world) And Sebastian Barrios (long-time SVP of eng and product, now SVP of Eng at Roblox) might be even more interesting: - Steve Jobs personally called him when he was 17 years old, telling him they're banning his app from the App Store and changing the rules because of it - His mom trained him like a spy—dropping him in random parts of Mexico City to find his way home. - He drinks only water. No coffee, tea, alcohol, or juice. and. He doesn't listen to music. He works in silence. In his words, “I like my brain. Why would I alter it with chemicals?” - He's also only 34 y/o, making him one of the youngest execs in tech In our conversation, Sebastian shares: 🔸 Why Mercado Libre operates with 95% fewer PMs than typical tech companies 🔸 The weekly email system Sebastian uses to maintain alignment with leadership 🔸 The counterintuitive approach to product reviews that keeps 18,000 engineers aligned 🔸 How to maintain product quality with 30,000 daily deployments and distributed ownership 🔸 How to build a culture of radical candor and direct feedback in a traditionally hierarchical region 🔸 Much more Listen now 👇 • YouTube: • Spotify: • Apple: Thank you to our wonderful sponsors for supporting the podcast: 🏆 Merge — A single API to add hundreds of integrations into your app: 🏆 Vanta — Automate compliance.
