A Thread: Our national debt is OUT OF CONTROL—over $36 TRILLION and projected to hit $59 TRILLION by 2035.

That’s unsustainable. We must rein in spending before it bankrupts our country.

But here’s the deal—we can’t let the 2017 tax cuts expire either. If they do: ❌ Child Tax Credit gets slashed in half for 40M families ❌ Standard deduction cut in half—affecting 91% of taxpayers ❌ Alternative Minimum Tax comes back, raising taxes for many in my district

Simply put—letting these tax cuts expire would be disastrous for families in the Hudson Valley.

But we must also lift the cap on SALT while extending the 2017 tax cuts, a top priority of mine we will get done to benefit so many folks in NY-17.

This legislation will also allow us to do the important work of securing the border and supporting our military. We must make sure America is kept safe again.

And let’s clear something up: Some are fear-mongering about Medicaid cuts. Guess what? Medicaid isn’t even mentioned in this resolution. Not once.

We’re focused on reducing costs while protecting Social Security, Medicare, veterans benefits, and Medicaid.

Let me be crystal clear: ❌ I will NEVER to cut Social Security. ❌ I will NEVER vote to cut Medicare. ❌ I will NEVER vote to cut veterans' benefits.

I will never vote for any legislation that does. Period. Full stop.

We need fiscal responsibility AND tax relief for hardworking families. That’s what we’re all fighting for.

Let’s dive into this week’s episode, where I discuss these key issues in the 🧵 above and other critical economic updates. Here: @NetChoice @taxreformer @Texas_Taxpayers @ceidotorg @aier #txlege #Trump #tech
