I really can’t rationalize how so many of us skip over something so easy, that impacts so much of your life. Between Baton Rouge and New Orleans the 2 biggest cities in Louisiana we have 270,156 REGISTERED Black voters. Only 15,038 Black people early voted when you add up the turnout totals for both. With low numbers like that turnout is expected to be extremely low for Black voters. Voting doesn’t solve everything by far, but not voting has impacts on your kids education, the investment in your roads and businesses. Even if you don’t care about the social issues, not voting impacts who gets the money. We have good people on the ballot Saturday. In statewide races, as well as senate and house races. So I wanted to talk about some of the differences between The Boyz television adaption vs the original comics: -In the comics Homelander is benevolent (but increasingly jaded) it turns out Black Noir was manipulating him into doing the worst of things. -Butcher is not a cuck, in the comics the supe baby lasers out of his pregnant wife and kills her, he proceeds to smash Homelander's bastard son with a heavy candle holder. -In the comics both Homelander and Butcher die because Vought is so powerful they had the power to kill both the entire time and were pulling everyone's strings from the very start—overwhelming victory. (it was all for nothing) As you can see the original comic is a very different animal/beast, Homelander is far more compelling, Black Noir is the real monster manipulating Homelander (notice the overlaid transition), Butcher is not a cuck ("his wife's son" gets a late-term abortion) and in the end [Vought wins] the game was rigged from the very start. It says a lot that this ending (which is considered contraversial/bleak) is infinitely better than the "I'll suck your dick and eat shit" (which is out of character) humiliation ritual for Homelander that the show gave us—not because it made the ending good, but because it made the writer feel like he could "own those right wing chuds one last time" even if it completely destroyed the ending/anything good about the show just like The Joker 2 did for the Joker. Eric Kripke is a hack and a failure of a writer, newsflash Eric Kripke all the memes recreating your ending are not positive memes, people are literally MOCKING the scene (because it sucks), this is what happens when you put your politics/identity before staying consistent or sticking to the rules YOU established. When you start digging into how dumb is, the rabbit hole goes deep… In this recent clip, Beff is claiming that humanity's ultimate goal should be to trash all resources as fast as possible — slash and burn the entire cosmos to make thermodynamic entropy number go up — BUT that's okay because the process of building a universe-scale furnace will supposedly be precisely the process by which we'll achieve our moral values to the fullest! Seriously, he's claiming that these two objective functions are functionally equivalent: 1. Grow our flourishing civilization beyond earth and fill the universe with life, love, happiness, wonder, creativity, discovery, art, humor, cooperation 2. Turn every ordered configuration of atoms into chaos in the shortest possible time Watch 3:02 in the video to hear it from him: “It's, you know, the same reason life exists. It's much better to conserve and strategically use free energy to secure more free energy, and keep growing, and have some order, rather than just like, burn all in one go and have chaos, right?” Read that again. That's the load-bearing argument that licenses him to equate claims #1 and #2 above. He's saying: Since life on Earth built beautiful complexity while using up the sun's energy, we can just go ahead and extrapolate that, into me leading a movement to extinguish all usable energy sources as rapidly as possible. Earth teaches us that the faster we extinguish all usable energy sources, the better we'll grow a civilization even more flourishing than the one on Earth! Too bad that if you think about it for 5 seconds, the fly in the ointment of his logic is that optimal free-energy-dissipation strategies like "chuck all the matter into a black hole" don't conveniently dovetail with sane goals like growing our flourishing civilization to fill the universe with life and love. Beff's Effective Accelerationism movement successfully got thousands of people to put "e/acc" in their profile without checking too much into the doctrine. These mostly normal, psychologically-healthy people just prefer a government that doesn't stifle the many forms of good tech progress… Unfortunately these people became Beff's useful idiots, considering the outcome he's explicitly trying to accelerate is the universe's heat death. I'm not exaggerating or misrepresenting him here. Homie wants to accelerate the universe's heat death. His core claim that objectives #1 and #2 above are equivalent — a claim which is FACTUALLY FALSE if you ask any physicist — somehow never gets questioned (or even flagged as questionable) by the people who have a chance to interview Beff. One podcast after another sees fit to wager their show's credibility on a guest who can dazzle listeners with smart-sounding jargon for hours, as long as no one dares to ask him why his movement's central claim is as factually false as Jonah and the Whale. But hey, if you don't ask your acolytes to swallow a factually false claim as part of your core doctrine, are you really leading a new religion or “hyperstition” 🙄? No, you're just like the rest of us jockeying for crumbs of AI venture capital without the reality-distortion benefit of a social media demagogue halo. To rebuke some points the usual fragile snowflakes are making to my tweet on Fable and diversity; 1. Narrative accuracy despite being fictional. At the end of Fable 3 you make Aurora, an extremely hot desert filled country to the South, part of Albion. So if the new Fable is set after, it makes sense Albion would be far more diverse in its people than the prior games already were. Not that there needed to be such a narrative reason mind you. The franchise has teleportion, plus there's other forms of travel, so it's not like over the course of decades, more and more immigration couldn't occur, just like in real life. 2. An old name for England. Albion was an ancient Greek/Roman name for England nearly 1000 years BEFORE medieval times, in 4th Century BC Roman Britain, which Fable's world isn't inspired by. Hence the name is a nod to the game being inspired by British folklore, not an admission of historical accuracy. Even during Roman rule the name became Britannia. The Albion in Fable is fictional. Which should've been obvious by it having entirely different and wildly fantastical locations to England, in addition to giants, magic etc lol. 3. An affront to creativity. It's insane snowflakes draw the line at black and brown people, but not trolls, giants, magic, fantastical locations, fire breathing giant birds etc. They're clearly NOT interested in accuracy and realism, just gatekeeping art to omitting minorities. But here's the thing, in wanting fantastical fiction to mimic historic real life, they not only defeat the point of fiction, but prove they're deeply un creative and dull. Fiction is about expanding on creativity for artistic intent and entertainment, and greater diversity can aid in that. Personally, I can't stand fragile snowflakes who persistently whine whenever creatives create things that don't wholly conform to their own subjective ideals, prejudices or insecurities. To me, such folk are akin to the equivalent of entitled gaming Karens, and in my honest opinion, should be ignored and/or mocked, just like memed Karens. If developers want hot women with big boobs and skimpy armour even if it isn't realistic, let them. If they want to have more black and brown people, let them. If they want normal realistic looking women instead of Insta models, let them. Here's my first series of Anime created by Generative AI. I won't spoil the story for you, but it begins with these two boys locked up in what appears to be a highly secure institute/prison. Yuki has reached the age where he has awakened his power. While wandering the corridors of the institute, he meets Kuro, a boy with autism. It's a fleeting encounter as they end up being separated. As the story unfolds, you'll understand who they really are and why they are locked up. I don't plan on making episode 2 yet, even though I've grown attached to my characters' story. I'll continue the story only if a lot of people are interested and want to know what happens next.
