What Are the Steps to Perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)? Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a lifesaving technique used when someone’s heart stops beating or they stop breathing. To perform CPR, check if the person is responsive. If not, call emergency services. Place your hands on the center of their chest and push hard and fast at a rate of 100–120 compressions per minute, about 2 inches deep. Allow the chest to rise fully between compressions. Continue until help arrives or the person responds. CPR steps 𝕏 emergency response | 🫀🚑
