This is the biggest lie that sf sells you. “Just move to sf. It will change your life.” In reality, most people who move here: - Get stuck grinding 24/7 at a startup - Are trapped inside the tech bubble - Burn out before they get to explore SF In typical SF fashion, I built a mini-app to help me solve this problem. I started compiling all the places I wanted to explore in the city: parks, rooftops, viewpoints and more. But exploring the city felt like work. It should feel effortless. So I made detours - an app that shows me all the cool things I want to see on my way to/from work. Now I’m going on microadventures every day, seeing all the things that make SF rent worth it.

Today, I was invited to Umm al-Khair to take part in the commemoration marking one year since the killing of peace activist Awdah Hathaleen. I was also given one of the greatest honors of my life: inaugurating the library established in his name and memory. If Awdah were alive, I’m sure he would still be standing with his people here in Umm al-Khair, with patience and infinite hope. He would probably be holding his three little children in his arms. He would still be smiling, and we would probably be dancing with him, even though the occupation tried to take that away from us. If Awdah were alive, this dark world would hold a little more light. But his light endures. He was, and always will be, a light for his family, for his community, and for our people, for the Palestinian people.

The homeless crisis in Santa Monica, CA is getting so bad that one homeowner invented his own homeless deterrent device. Santa Monica man Stephen McMahon invented a "diversion security" device that he is using to move homeless people out of his 20-block radius. The device detects when homeless people are in the area and starts chirping with a blue light. McMahon says he uses blue light because it tricks the brain into thinking it is daytime. He also says the blue light makes it so the homeless people can't see their veins to sh**t up drugs. McMahon hopes to install the Blue Chirper throughout his entire community to drive out the homeless. "I want to push these people out of here and bring Santa Monica back to the way it was."

Stephen A. Smith responds to Kevin Durant calling him a "clown": "I will not disrespect him the same way he disrespects me. It's unfortunate that no matter how old he gets, his sensitivity seems to heighten with it and his maturity it doesn't. But that's something he has to deal with, not me... He's a treasure to the game of basketball. I love seeing him play. And I sincerely wish that he doesn't get swept again in the playoffs like he has two of the last three years."

Edwin Sifuna on whether he would work with Gachagua: We will work with everyone who believes that Ruto does not deserve an extra day in office. Gachagua paid for his mistakes, I voted to impeach him, and it was for specific crimes. He is the one who is saying Ruto is an existential threat to the country. He says that he feels largely responsible for Ruto becoming President, and therefore, he has a greater responsibility in removing him than anyone else, and that is something I agree with. At the end of the day, we have to kick out Ruto #CitizenExplainer

Sergey Lavrov on his now-iconic "USSR" sweater he wore to the Alaska summit. "There was no attempt to revive an imperial mindset with that, as some in the West are saying. There is just history, and history has to be preserved - if I may - with a light sense of irony."

One of my favorite things about Skip was that you didn't really do an interview with Skip, you just started the camera and captured the magic. He had such an unbelievable ability to understand the moment and the need, and he filled in the lines as only he could. Here's part of the last sit-down interview that I did with Skip, at his home where he talks about what he wanted his legacy to be.

“I have no problem with Peter Obi's wife carrying a luxury bag; her husband is a billionaire. He was before he came into government. The only problem I have with him is he says he only has one shoe and one watch, but when you put yourself in a certain light, and things around you don't seem to add to that light, there is a problem. He (Peter Obi) is honest and humble, but are people around him as prudent as he is?” — Daddy Freeze reacts to his wife carrying a Hermès bag worth hundreds of thousands of dollars

A new version of me: ✨ Even though I’m now more ingrained in Product Design, my first love was Brand Design. Being able to express the strategy and vision of a brand in a distinct way has always been an exciting challenge. And I’m still using many of those skills in my day-to-day work as a Design Systems Product Designer — from layout and typography to iconography and micro-interactions. I don’t think these skills are meant to be kept behind one or two case studies. I see them as part of my life’s work, whether it’s an exploration, something that never shipped, or an approved and shipped design. That’s why I went with a gallery-themed website this time. Rather than keeping my work behind a handful of polished case studies, I wanted somewhere I could treat my work as a body of work — explorations, shipped work, experiments, little details and everything in between. A space that can serve as inspiration for me, and hopefully for others too. Introducing a new version of me: #portfolio
