We have seen a lot of legged robots doing navigation in the wild. But how about mobile manipulation in the wild? I have been pushing the direction of learning a unified, efficient, and dynamic 3D representation of scenes (for navigation) and objects (for manipulation) for the past two years. And now we have GeFF --- our large-scale, generalizable feature field, that combines the speed of a feed-forward neural network with the rich semantics from Foundation Models, to handle dynamically changing scenes, and enable open-ended, language-grounded scene and object understanding.

Robot dogs may be the most underrated robot form factor right now: familiar enough to enter human spaces, useful enough to earn their keep. 🐕 The obvious jobs are industrial inspection, fire-scene scouting, search and rescue, last-mile delivery, security patrols, farm monitoring, and basic home support. Autonomous navigation solves a big part of the “how does it move around without a pilot?” problem. The body solves the rest: legs handle stairs, rubble, mud, grass, and tight indoor spaces; wheel-legged designs add speed on flat ground without giving up rough-terrain mobility. That is the real appeal — not a robot pretending to be a pet, but a mobile tool that can go where people go, and take the risky, repetitive, or boring jobs first.

He turned down offers from top physical AI companies to build his own. The reason was his specific vision of how robot intelligence should be built to actually scale. So he decided to build one himself. Flexion is building an ultimate brain for humanoid robots. Yesterday they released Reflect v1.0. It’s an intelligence platform for long-horizon autonomous missions. The system has three layers. At the top, a custom vision-language model acts as mission control, observing the robot's camera feed and replanning continuously. Below that, a motion layer combines a VLA trained on real-world data with reinforcement learning-based skills. It translates perception into navigation, scene interaction, and manipulation commands. At the bottom, a whole-body controller runs in real-time, maintaining balance while the robot navigates and performs tasks. This is the Scorpion Hexapod, a six-legged robotic scorpion created at Ghent University UGent Campus Kortrijk in Belgium. It was built by students Stephan Flamand Robbe Terryn and Pieterjan Deconinck as part of an Embedded Prototyping / Mechatronics Design project. This is the Scorpion Hexapod, a six-legged robotic scorpion created at Ghent University UGent Campus Kortrijk in Belgium. It was built by students Stephan Flamand Robbe Terryn and Pieterjan Deconinck as part of an Embedded Prototyping / Mechatronics Design project. Elon Musk: As we advance the Neuralink devices, you should be able to actually have full body control and sensors from an Optimus robot So you could basically inhibit an Optimus robot. It's not just the hand, but the whole thing. So you could like basically mentally remote into an Optimus robot and be kind of cool. The future is gonna be weird, but pretty cool And then another thing that could be done also is like for people that have say lost a limb, lost an arm or leg or something like that, then we think in the future we'll be able to attach an Optimus arm or legs and so you kind of like I remember that scene from a Star Wars where Luke Skywalker gets his hand, you know, chopped off with a lightsaber and he gets kind of a robot hand And I think that's the kind of thing that we'll be able to do in the future working with Neuralink and Tesla. So it goes far beyond just operating a robot hand, but replacing limbs and having kind of a whole body robot experience. And then I think another thing that will be possible like I think it's very likely in the future is to be able to bridge the where the damaged neurons So you can take the signal from the brain and and transmit that signal past where the neurons are damaged or strained to the rest of the body, so you could reanimate the body. So that if you have a Neuralink implant in the brain and then one in the spinal cord, then you can actually bridge the signals and you could walk again and have full body functionality Obviously that's what people would prefer. To be clear, we realize that would be the preferred outcome. And so that even if you have a broken neck, you could still we believe I'm actually at this point I'd say fairly confident that at some point in the future we'll be able to restore full body functionality
