it's better for low-end pcs + you have more control of your pcs (also windows is sellign your data) but it's time consuming and hard if you don't know what you're doing, so it's understandable if you want to use windows :-) i personally dual boot windows with debian linux

On linux you get: - lower idle usage - less bloat (depending on the distro you get more or less bloat) - more customization if you’re onto that - better overall performance - pretty equal app support (specific use-case programs like photoshop dont work but most do)

Linux users when their installation breaks randomly (they have to install the super duper extra dickfrot patch on their system by finding the 50th page on a random linux help forum from 2015 and pray to God that their wifi driver doesn't stop working while they install the patch)

i like gnome’s workflow a lot and its something neither windows nor macos can offer

Better performance, less bloat, customization, more control, open-source, optional telemetry (in kde), no forced choices, better filesystems + choice of filesystem (imo, btrfs is good), slightly better drivers (wifi doesnt break unlike when i was on windows), better dev tools

One day I turned on my laptop and my manufacturer's inbuilt software showed me an ad for like an antivirus or some bs, and it made me so pissed off I installed Linux and I haven't used Windows since. That's genuinely the reason

I just don't like dependencies and Microsoft is an American company that I don't want in my life. Since it's open-source, if something doesn't work at least I can fix it (and I have).

Less resource usage, it can run most Windows software, no 50 hidden Microsoft telemetry processes in the background, if your OS decides to kill itself, you can fix or reinstall it without having to uninstall all your apps like on Windows, updates actually work unlike Windows 11.
