Listen to Mayor Brandon Johnson's answer to question on Alphanso Talley. It's inexcusable. Though it is plainly evident Johnson is being asked about the failure of laws (SAFE-T Act, Pre-Trial Fairness, and EM) which returned Talley to the streets, Johnson immediately deflects to blame police. Johnson: "You know, look, I think when it comes to police reform........" Johnson clearly thinks we aren't sharp enough to notice his evasions.

Today, Mayor Brandon Johnson referred to Saturday's mass shooting which killed one and wounded 15 others as a "setback." The mayor then went on to blame Trump, guns, and cuts to the AFT budget for Chicago's epidemic of gun violence. Not one word from the mayor about gangs or arresting and jailing violent criminals.

The recent sweeping up of the streets in Winnipeg resulted in no change in public safety despite being extremely costly. These police sweeps have targeted areas where people receive medical and mental health care, pushing people away from vital services. This was a wasteful exercise that targeted areas where people receive mental health and addiction supports. It only led to more deaths as a result of the toxic drug crisis. We’re now facing a mental health and addictions crisis, a housing crisis, and an HIV crisis in Winnipeg. It’s time to listen to the voices of public health and safety experts and act on their calls to address the underlying causes of these crises, including supports for affordable, rent-geared-to-income housing, public healthcare and mental health services, and youth programming.

The legal system isn’t just failing, it’s completely surrendered to the criminals. Chicago Democrats would rather protect monsters than protect cops and citizens. This is insanity.

Once again it looks like Mayor Brandon Johnson has been caught in a lie. For months, when asked whether he PERSONALLY was directing/influencing /pressuring the CPS Board into firing CPS CEO Pedro Martinez, he denied it, stonewalled saying "he doesn't discuss personnel issues," denied FOIA requests and violated the Open Meetings Act by providing completely redacted documents in response to FOIA requests by the media. But this week, an unredacted copy of an internal memo, obtained by Chicago Tribune, showed that Johnson's advisor told CPS board members that the Mayor expected Martinez to be out by September 26th. Johnson's Chief of Staff, Cristina "Peace Circles" Pacione-Zayas was also included in the message thread. It hasn't been proven yet but I suspect that Johnson also knew all about his former Press Secretary and friend, Ronnie Reese's sexual misconduct and intimidation at City Hall and did nothing about it. Not only is the Mayor being extremely dishonest but he clearly cares more about his backers at CTU than he does about the people of Chicago or their kids at CPS Schools. #thatreporter

Today, Mayor Johnson summoned the memory of the Holocaust when discussing reparations for blacks in Chicago. The mayor was attempting to be clever, but he was attempting to draw a parallel between the “dismantlement” of schools, public housing, and mental health clinics and the Holocaust. No comparison can ever be drawn between to the mass murder of European Jews and school closures, Mr. Mayor. None. And it’s an absolute disgrace to appeal to genocide to state a case for reparations.

This is at a time when Chicago is down 2,000 police officers. Despite putting the city in the hole $1B for 2025 due to his excessive migrant and CTU spending, he still had plenty of dough left to hire at least three defund the police abolitionists (i.e. community safety aides)- their own words - not mine.
