little go beep has done irreversible damage to why people think wile e doesn’t speak in most road runner shorts he speaks when he’s with bugs and he’s also spoken in road runner cartoons before HE’S A PRETENTIOUS INTELLECTUAL AND HIS VOICE IS ASMR WE ARE LOSING THE SACRED TEXTS

People really think that Looney Tunes has continuity, when it really doesn't, what happens in one media doesn't necessarily continue for the other

Some possibilities: 1). Wile E’s battles with bugs occur AFTER he finally caught the roadrunner. 2). Same as the above, only Wile E quit chasing roadie, gave his dad the finger, and made his intelligence the center of his identity to feel more secure. I dunno which is worse.

it can’t be the first one cuz he’s talking in the road runner cartoon

True, but continuity in the Looney Tunes is always kinda...not...there whatsoever. You can just consider those instances "non-canon", for whatever that even means in this context.

Basically, he only speaks when he deems it necessary, like to explain himself. Also he has to keep his vocal muscles working somehow! Any genius knows their voice is a strong weapon itself!

It fr just depended on who was directing. Chuck Jones was the only one who let Wile E. Coyote talk, but none of the others did. It was almost like a stylistic choice. But this was also only in the Bugs episodes as well, I don't think he talks in any RR episodes.

he’s literally talking in two road runner cartoons here

LMAOOO I didn’t watch the full video. I wasn’t entirely sure though, which is why I said I thought.

to be fair the adventures of Roadrunner pilot he like talked to us (The Viewer) Also I love his voice like auugh I wish he talked more hi voice is pure ASMR

That actually makes the whole thing way funnier. That he's some arrogant self-proclaimed genius who constantly blows himself up.

What irks me is that people will see an obvious joke, and treat it like it was a major story reveal that is part of a canon story. No, it’s just a funny joke, you silly billies. It’s a comedy cartoon, it’s not meant to be treated so seriously.

Maybe at some point Wile E. realized his dad was full of shit and just started talking on his own.

I would also say it was the established rules made by Chuck Jones that did some damage.

For the most part, I always saw it as a simple gag. But, with Bugs Bunny, the rules change since Bugs has worked with some characters who don't talk. It's like a "choose your battle". "Why would I talk to a blisfull ignorant bird, but, I talk to a rabbit who's formidable?"

If we take both as canon this implies that Wile E actually caught and ate a Road Runner at some point and liked it so much he decided to do it all again

quoth the eternal old internet figure:

I felt like I was the only kid who had the bugs bunny shorts on vhs as a kid. Which is a shame cause I always be going 'Wile E. Coyote, Super Genius!' whenever I figure out something easy

In the movie he never says he can’t speak, either. He says no when asked “DO you not speak” which could very well mean “I can speak but choose not to”

Narrator ass voice

My interpretation is that he does speak but mostly when he's alone because he believes to speak his genius allowed would be to sully it's masterfulness. The pretentious intellectual characterization he was given is certainly interesting.

"Little Go Beep.... and the 'Rules'.... simpletons see these and think they're omniscient." "I cannot speak for other Wile E's, but I am typically mute. I can temporarily bypass my father's accidental curse by claiming victories in my other (non-roadrunner) pursuits."

I can’t exactly blame anyone when Wile E. has been a non-verbal character for a lot of his history. Like, Coyote vs ACME is sure to also paint it in peoples’ minds he’s permanently mute. Just a matter of correcting the information if it comes up.

Perfectly Cut Scream in the end Nice

Sometimes I debate if Wil E should’ve talked in Coyote V Acme. I wouldn’t be surprised if that movie also that he’s 99% mute.

I love Little Go Beep, but honestly, I'm so fed up with how people take this whole Wile's promise thing as a 100% pure and undeniable fact.

I KNEW I WASN’T CRAZY WHEN I VAGUELY REMEMBERED IN MY MEMORY THAT I SAW HIM SPEAKING OMFG

Wait…why didn’t he use these old school records as evidence for the court? 🤨🤔

He is selectively mute

The only time he speaks in a "Road Runner cartoon" was a pilot for a TV show that never got picked up, and even then it was to the audience and on his own and not to the Road Runner directly. When in full Road Runner catching mode, he's still silent.

By December we need to start shipping the Grinch with Wile E Coyote

Old Looney Tunes shorts were episodic instead of serialized, so there was no real "canon" for why Wile E. would switch from being voiced to being silent. I think going silent was a way to save on costs, since they only had to do sound effects and recycle Road Runner's beeps

I like to think he either took a vow of silence or he’s so locked in most of the time that he doesn’t even waste energy on speaking

IQ OF 207!?!?

Say what you will about the TT reboot but he was a member of the faculty in that, and was his regular pretentious self lol

So that edit with him as a dark academia tortured genius was actually 100% accurate

Oh my god he's an IQ guy

I think he just wants to talk when its convinient for him and also hes probably close to bugs to talk to him only
