A little work in progress on my new #threejs project showing how Screen Space Global Illumination also works wonders in open scenes. Here, I'm using SSGI with CSM, SSS (screen space shadows), and a custom atmospheric fog for more realism. Adjusting the time of day in a scene like this is like a dream come true 😍. I’ve taken the #threejs water realism to the next level! Now with RGB distortion in the caustics, we get even more realistic, colorful light projections. The water movement has been improved to flow naturally, with optimizations for smoother performance. Plus, I’ve added a post-processing effect that simulates underwater distortion, complete with a dynamic waterline when the camera is partially submerged. After diving in, watch out for realistic water droplets on the screen! Stay tuned for the live link coming soon! 🌊💧. Following ☄︎ work, I'm experimenting with some react three fiber with #threejs webGPU. We no longer need an EffectComposer to use post-processing effects in #r3f. Now, everything is done by composing TSL nodes. I created a small component that helps in rendering post-processing effects. All you need to do is import the effects you want and add them to the final composition. I will share the link to the demo and source code on Monday 😍. Another thing I want to highlight is how amazing the Screen Space Reflection effect is. It generates reflections not only on the ground, as we had before in r3f in webgl. It is able to calculate the reflections between the meshes. Look how beautiful the reflection of the lightsaber on Darth Vader's mask is. This is not something that is easy to calculate and this is exactly where WebGPU in threejs shines! Congratulations to everyone on the threejs team. I am increasingly impressed with WebGPU and TSL.

I'm combining #WebGPU SSGI with light probes, giving us the best of both worlds. Real-time light bounces via SSGI, and when the camera stops moving, I bake probes to measure the average light in the room, generating fill lights that paint an envmap. I also created a denoiser for SSGI, avoiding the previous blur that discarded the AO. Now, everything is lighter, a little noisier, but it complements indirect light well. Live link coming soon. New features in the #threejs architecture visualization project for Planpoint. A neighborhood surroundings with points of interest integrated into the map, very convenient for placing the building in the context of the city. We also have a new unit search engine with filters. Units can also be inspected with a new details panel, showing more information about each unit. And since everything renders in real time, it's also possible to see the unit inside, simulating sunlight at different times of the year. And incredibly, everything you see in this video loads less than 6MB 🤯 #webgpu #creativecoding

My Market Dashboard(Updated) My previous GitHub live site link experienced a sudden traffic surge from X (too popular?)and was flagged as bot activity, leading to a suspension. Without any reply from Github after 10 days, I decided to migrate the entire project to GitLab. Also, I added some new features to it, Multi-chart grid view, ETF Holdings and Market Breadth. What you are seeing here is a totally revamped and improved version of a Dreamcast homebrew classic: the Caves tech demo, captured directly from a Sega Dreamcast. FreakDave's original demo already impressed the hell out of me when I first saw it several years ago, getting back into DC development after a several-year hiatus... but this new demo is absolutely INCREDIBLE stuff. It's powered by FreakDave's FDV engine, and now features vertex-based ambient occlusion, light baking, approximated global illumination, fog, and crazy water effects in addition to the dynamic lighting of the original all running at higher FPS! ...and now I can brag about the fact that he's using my SH4ZAM linear algebra library for the DC's SH4 CPU to accelerate all of the math behind the effects! Two new #threejs projects on the way 😍 Working on my own gem renderer with a custom refraction material in TSL for #WebGPU, combining Screen Space Reflections + SSGTAO for superior results, as this allows diamonds to generate reflections on the metal mesh. The performance is incredible, even on gems with over 200 diamonds. This time, without any additional libraries. Just React Three Fiber and a lot of magic with custom shaders in TSL. GemGPU™ will also come with a very minimalist gem and metal customization panel that hides and lets the jewelry be the star. I also created a beautiful new stats panel that completely hides in the scene when not needed. It provides relevant optimization information, a performance gauge, summary and expanded modes, and day/night toggle. In the video, you can also see SSGI in action, with a pearl that reflects, in real time, all the objects in the scene, just as the objects in the scene reflect the pearl. It's magical. There are still a few things to fix, but I'll share the live link soon. Stay tuned.

This post raised some questions. So let’s talk about rifles and vehicles, and why I do it this way. Context is everything. If you are just throwing your rifle in your truck to transport it, or because you might want to pop a coyote on your property at a moments notice, this may not apply to you. Do with the information what you will. FWIW, I generally don’t roll around with a rifle in my truck at all. Maybe if I lived in a place with less vehicle break ins, I would. I don’t subscribe to the notion of “using my pistol to fight to my rifle” as a rule of thumb, but there are times where I will roll with more heavy ordinance for various reasons.

🕹️ As the #vibejam organizer, I sadly can't participate But I still really really really wanted to make an FPV drone sim 😊 So I started to make it today, it has the real movement like a real drone, swerving left and right fast (with your mouse) and steering with keys WASD and Space to go up and Shift to go down, it's just a draft but you can try it here: 🚁 I love that typical VHS-ey analog video signal noise, so i tried to emulate it and of course it gets noisier the further you fly away and you lose radio signal I want to improve the look more to make it look really realistic this time, last year the plane game was fun but it didn't look realistic, this year we can try to go for more photorealistic as AI might finally be able to do it And of course I added an onboard gun and grenades you can throw off the drone Next I wanna add like more stuff to fly through like buildings and maybe some moving tanks and real enemies to shoot too A challenge is to get it to look realistic with just AI generated trees and scenery etc. I will follow the 90% AI rule and try to generate assets instead of importing them Anyway first impression is that there's been a lot of progress in AI models, they're much smarter than when we did the Vibe Jam a year ago, they still make mistakes but much less and it's easier to get your point across what you want them to build, very cool!

Canada's Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland, in support of the Liberal's new capital gains tax, goes on incredibly inappropriate classist rant and ends with a threat: "...do you want to live in a country where these at the very top live lives of luxury but must do so in gated communities, behind ever higher fences using private healthcare and airplanes. Because the public sphere is so degraded and the wrath of the vast majority of their less privileged compatriots burns so hot." What she is saying is if our doctors and entrepreneurs don't give her more of their money to mismanage they won't be able to go anywhere in public and face the risk of violence. It's her government the one that degraded the public sphere. This tax will generate less than what the increase in our public debt servicing charges have been because of her fiscally reckless government. We have billions missing and mismanaged in various endeavors likes the green fund, infrastructure fund and they don't seem to care for all the squandered dollars on various project like the ArriveCan. She doesn't want to fix any of the fiscal mismanagement in her government to make sure taxpayers dollars are going to the services they are paying for, she just wants more money and threatens violence "if not".
