A lot of them argue from emotion rather than research. Elon Musk explains how to get startup ideas When asked how he comes up with startup ideas, Elon responds: “I tend to think of things from a sort of physics standpoint… what’s the best way to accomplish something? And then pursue that. That’s also a good way to determine if something’s far from its optimum.” He gives rockets as an example: “You could reason by analogy and say the rocket is going to cost a certain amount because that’s what prior rockets have cost. Or you can say, well, what is a rocket made of? What are the material constituents? What do they weigh? What’s the cost per unit mass? And that sets the limit asymptotically for what a rocket can be. So if you can figure out some creative way to rearrange those elements into a rocket shape, then you can achieve a much better outcome.” He also thinks combining ideas from different industries is really helpful for innovation: “What have people discovered in one industry and can that be applied to other industries? I honestly find it embarrassing that after all these years of helping Ukraine, there are still people who find the time and energy to go out of their way to bash me, lie about me, and straight-up invent stories. What many of those people seem to forget is that a lot of the guys and girls I help are also on Twitter. They read what’s being written. They see the lies you’re spreading. What really crossed the line for me was getting a message from my own friend who was genuinely upset after seeing one of those tweets. A person who is literally on the frontline, in Pokrovsk, felt he had to take time out of his day to respond to Russian bait trolls. To stop what he’s doing, record a video, and “prove” that I help them. That is insane. These people are fighting. They’re working. They’re surviving. And instead of focusing only on that, they’re forced to defend the truth because someone on the internet can’t stop harassing me. After all these years. Shame on those who are spreading this crap. I’m not going to name this person, but I will put this screenshot next to the video so you understand exactly what I’m talking about.
