A few years ago when I was in Italy, drivers (cars) would encourage me to lane split, in a long queue. Baking sun +30 degrees and full gear, it was completely natural to let bikers pass. No opening doors, no one pulling in front, just kind mercy.

States like California have laws that allow motorcycles to pass between cars or at least they did when I was stationed in San Diego in the late 90s. Most bikes are air cooled and need to keep moving and can’t sit in traffic forever so car drivers don’t be an ass and watch out.
