SpaceX dropped yesterday on an unlock. Worth understanding the mechanic, because it repeats. 319 million shares came online, adding 17% to the float. As a rule of thumb, 20 to 25% of unlocked shares get sold almost immediately. Not because holders turn bearish. Because a SpaceX employee sitting on $5M in stock and $200k in savings gets told by every wealth adviser to diversify. That's roughly 80 million shares looking for a bid. But there's a floor to it. Below 135, the IPO price, holders won't sell. Above 135, they will. That single level splits the behavior. Which is why unlocks don't work like a one-day dip. They stack limit orders at a price and sit there. The stock can't advance until that volume clears, no matter how good the news is. You have to burn through the wall first.

I’ve said before that Cem Karsan 🥐 is a must listen for anyone in the market, and particularly retail. This clip shows why. He does not hold back, he reveals the inside baseball that’s happening. Here he says that GameStop was in a way an orchestrated squeeze by institutions because they saw an edge - the persistent bid from retail call buyers. The peculiarities of $GME at the time (tiny float, massively over shorted, etc) contributed to the severity of the squeeze and made it the most famous. But I believe Cem is touching on something that explains many other “orchestrated” squeezes, from TSLA to PLTR to POET - retail liquidity absolutely matters. If the view is that there will be a consistent bid for shares/calls in a ticker and that is proven true, and it doesn’t go away, that name will keep going up as that buying is front run by institutions. It creates a reflexive loop that pushes it higher and higher, until that retail bid dries up. And that’s when the music stops and a severe correction happens. Apparently there is a store you can go to that sells the lost luggage and belongings left on planes. The items are sold at a deep discount like a thrift store. I never knew they were allowed to sell items that weren’t theirs, even if it’s unclaimed like a suitcase, most of the time they have their names on it and a little investigation could lead to who the owner is. Do you agree that if they spent more time locating the owner they shouldn’t have to sell people’s belongings especially if they didn’t even know they left it behind?
