The junta soldiers have launched an alarming attack this morning, setting fire to an entire village near Pakokku Airport in Pakokku Town, located within Myanmar's Magway Division. Who is really in-charge, the government or the térrorists? An entire village on the run in Isa local government area of sokoto state. This is the situation in Nigeria today. A whole village has been forced to flee its ancestral home due to constant attacks, kidnapping, and killings by a well-known terrorist, Bello Turji. Hundreds of cars, loaded with frightened families, children, and whatever belongings they could grab, are moving to Sokoto state capital not for opportunity, but just to find safety. This is not a movie. This is Nigeria in 2026. When citizens abandon their homes in broad daylight because the government cannot protect them, that government has failed woefully. A country where villages are emptied by terrorists, while leaders issue statements and citizens issue condolences, is a country in deep crisis. This is heartbreaking, shameful, and unacceptable. No Nigerian should be a refugee in their own land. Enough of the excuses, this is the painful evidence of state failure.

I was deeply moved by my meeting with coastal communities in Samoa forced to move their homes inland. Sea levels are rising at a rate not seen in at least 3,000 years. If we don’t reverse these climate change trends, we will see this tragedy in other coastal areas globally.
