🚨 Brilliant Manchester City Training Insight this week 💥 Pep Lijnders brought some 🔥 creativity to his session this week by introducing a small-sided game with unique constraints: ⚽️ Outfield players: 2-touch max 🧤 Goalkeepers: 3 touches 💪 Bonus rule: Win the ball = 3 touches allowed! This clever tweak pushes players to drive forward quickly in transition, attacking space if it opens up 👀💨 This is what developing principles looks like. 🧠⚡️

🚨🗣️ On Sandro Tonali's move to Manchester United: "Manchester United aren't just signing a midfielder, they're signing a leader. Tonali has the mentality, discipline and personality required to play for a club of this size. He understands the game, he understands responsibility and he makes the players around him better. When you watch him, you see a player who can control the tempo, win duels, organize the midfield and perform under pressure. Those qualities are difficult to find in modern football. It's no surprise that several top clubs were interested in him, but Manchester United moved decisively because they recognized his value. For a manager, having a player like Tonali is a luxury. He gives you balance, intensity and tactical intelligence. If he adapts quickly, he has everything needed to become one of the leaders of this new Manchester United project. This is not just a signing for today. It's a signing for the next five years. A major statement from Manchester United." 🔴👊 {Fabrizio Romano}

🚨🗣️ Gary Neville on Michael Carrick and Manchester United’s performance against Manchester City: 🗣️“I’ve got to be honest. I think Michael Carrick has to go now. He’s not the right man for the job. That performance today was a disgrace for a club like Manchester United. Manchester City were down to 10 men from the 23rd minute and United still couldn’t take advantage. We barely created a big chance. There was no urgency, no control, no attacking quality and, most importantly, no clear idea of how to break them down. You cannot play against 10 men for that long and come away looking like the team with fewer players. Manchester United should have dominated that game, but City looked more comfortable. I’m also really concerned about some of the new signings. Tielemans was nowhere near good enough today. I expected much more from him, but his performance was poor. Santos may not have played today, but United have to start asking whether these signings are good enough to take this club forward. This isn’t about one bad result anymore. It’s about the direction of the team. I don’t see enough from Carrick to convince me he is the right manager for Manchester United. The club has to make a decision now. You cannot keep accepting performances like this. Manchester United need a manager who can give them an identity, make them competitive and get the best out of these players. Today was embarrassing. City had 10 men for over an hour and United still couldn’t create anything. That tells you everything you need to know.”

15 year-old goalkeeper Lucca Benetton saved the penalty which led to Crystal Palace winning the U18 Premier League Cup last night.🤯🏆 Benetton made countless saves to keep his side in the game after an early goal from Manchester United U18s.🧤 Following a late equaliser by Benji Casey, the game went to extra-time and eventually penalties - where Benetton made the crucial save to give Dean Benamar the chance to score the winning penalty, which he did.✅ Putting in a performance like that despite being the 2nd youngest player on the pitch is crazy - a night to remember for Lucca and everyone else involved.🤩👏

🚨 Jason Wilcox on Manchester United’s striker and midfield targets ahead of the summer transfer window: 🗣️ “We know exactly where improvements are needed and we’re working very hard behind the scenes. In attack, we’re looking at players who can bring goals, quality, experience and the right mentality to play for Manchester United. There have been a lot of names mentioned publicly such as Robert Lewandowski, Harry Kane and Rafael Leão, and it’s normal for a club like Manchester United to be linked with top players. In midfield, there are also players being discussed, including Ederson, João Neves, Morgan Rogers and others who have impressed in recent seasons. What matters most to us is not just talent. We want players who are hungry, players who can handle pressure and players who genuinely want to represent Manchester United. The recruitment process is about finding the right profile, not just the biggest name. We have a clear plan and we’re focused on building a squad that can compete consistently and bring success back to the football club.” {Manchester United }

🚨 NEW: Danilo (from Brazil) is a player who has been offered to Manchester United. This is not a negotiation that started from the club’s side. Manu Koné is a player Manchester United have under consideration. The club spoke to the player’s agents and held concrete conversations with them, but United have not yet reached out to Roma. They have not started an official negotiation with Roma or sent an official bid for Koné, as they are still deciding which player they want as a defensive midfielder and what they want to do in midfield overall. The situations with Danilo (offered to United) and Koné (United contacted the agents) differ, and there is still no club-to-club negotiation. United could pursue a different midfielder; the story remains open. Baleba is also a player who has been super keen on joining Manchester United. Already one year ago he wanted to go to the club, but in this case it is up to Manchester United to decide whether they want to return to talks with Brighton or not. [Fabrizio Romano YT]

🚨David Ornstein on Elliot Anderson’s transfer preference amid interest from Manchester United and Manchester City: 🗣️ “Elliot Anderson’s future is expected to be one of the major talking points of the summer window. Sources indicate that the midfielder has informed those close to him that, if he were to leave Nottingham Forest, Manchester United would be among his preferred destinations. The attraction is the opportunity to become a central figure in a rebuilding project and play a significant role in the next phase of Manchester United’s development. While Manchester City continue to monitor the situation, Anderson is believed to be more interested in a move where he would have the chance to become a key starter rather than simply another option in an already established squad. Manchester United’s interest remains strong and the club views Anderson as a player capable of bringing energy, intensity and Premier League experience to the midfield. The player is admired by several figures inside Old Trafford and is regarded as one of the most suitable profiles for the style of football the club wants to implement. Negotiations are not advanced at this stage, but Anderson remains one of the leading names on Manchester United’s midfield shortlist alongside other targets being assessed ahead of what is expected to be a busy summer.” {BeanymanSports }

This is a Manchester City positional transfer rondo from their open training session today. Very Pep Guardiola like from Enzo Maresca who it seems is keen not to change too much. Play is continuous 8v3, with the team in possession aiming to complete a set number of passes before transferring the ball into the opposite zone for one point. A bonus point is awarded if the transfer is made through the neutral link player positioned in the central dividing zone. Players are limited to one or two touches. The pressing team remains in for set time periods to ensure the workload is evenly distributed. Get more training sessions via our website.

🇮🇪 Dermot Mee: From Training Keeper to Potential Matchday Role at Manchester United Dermot Mee’s journey at Manchester United is one of perseverance. The 23-year-old has spent 12 years at the club without making a competitive appearance, largely serving as a training goalkeeper and helping keep United’s stars sharp every day. But after saving Harry Wilson’s penalty against Leeds in pre-season, Mee is suddenly in the spotlight. 🧤🔴 With Karl Darlow and Tom Heaton injured, Mee could now find himself on the bench when United begin their Premier League campaign against Hull City. «“I pride myself on being ready to step into these moments and not shy away from them.”» From non-league loan spells to potentially being one step away from the Premier League touchline — Mee’s story deserves recognition. 👏

John Obi Mikel explains why Arsenal are the team to beat this season in the Premier League. "For me, it's Arsenal. When you look at all the top teams, they're the most settled. They've got a manager who's been there for years, he's built his squad and they've finally crossed the line by winning the Premier League. People can say they didn't play the prettiest football, but that doesn't matter. They won it. Now the challenge is defending the title. When you look around the league, Chelsea have a new manager, Liverpool have a new manager, Manchester City have a new manager, Manchester United have a new manager and Spurs have a new manager. Arsenal are the only top side with real continuity. That's why, for me, they're still the team everybody has to beat."
