Looksmaxxing bullshit episode one: Thumbpulling

Hi, keen to see how you feel after doing it consistently for a few months. I’d say there’s a bit more depth to it than you may understand or have seen so far. The key purpose is working through the fascia. Your palate is covered in palatal fascia, which for nearly everyone needs to be released due to the tongue not providing consistent, proper pressure because of posture, tongue tie, etc. As a result, thumbpulling (make sure you combine it with the proper follow-up technique) helps create that release. When you tuck your chin to align the superficial front line, apply pressure with your thumbs, and then release, you’re essentially performing a pandiculation. It should also be combined with other myofunctional exercises because it’s all one system. It sounds complicated, but it really comes down to chewing, breathing, swallowing, and posture. For example, if you chew mastic gum before thumbpulling, you’ll feel a bigger release. If you breathe properly while doing it, you help decompress the sutures and work with cranial motion, allowing things to slowly shift. Just as a reminder in case you didn’t watch the full video, the tongue is still the driver, the thumbs are a catalyst. That’s what makes them effective despite the pressure being inconsistent. You work through the fascia, which allows the muscles to expand, which then reinforces proper natural habits like tongue posture to maintain the results. So you work with the body without relapse and without bypassing it's natural systems. External devices can create breathing issues, the need for retainers etc because it expands at a rate the fascia, muscles and tongue can't adapt to. That is why when you use your own thumbs you engage your own nervous system, making it kind of biologically regulated and also the reason that you can't hurt yourself. Same idea as you can take a carrot and bite through it but you won't bite through your finger... Remember, the tongue is the natural retainer. You might get some temporary expansion from thumbpulling that would relapse for most people, but it won’t if you train the tongue and improve neck posture to properly support the head. It’s all one interconnected system. Thumbpulling is, in my opinion, a key to unlocking the process, but it needs to be accompanied by everything else. If you do that, you should be able to get good results. At the very least, make sure you’re doing it correctly so you can track progress properly. I can send you one of the free YouTube videos I’ve made with a basic routine you can follow for 10 minutes a day. If you combine that with thumbpulling at least 6 times a day (ideally more) for around 2 minutes, with a short warm-up like palate massage and proper follow-up, that’s enough to measure real change. If you want to take it further, you should also sleep in a way that reinforces proper habits. Using Zygo Tape for facial posture, plus something like a Myobrace or mouthguard to teach lip seal and proper tension, can help lock in results overnight without adding much extra effort. Most people should buy back their time but sleeping better, breathing better and having a bit more energy quite quickly. It may seem complicated, but if you do this consistently with intensity and a genuine willingness to test it fairly (not just disprove it), even though it’s just the tip of the iceberg, you should be pleasantly surprised. But again, it’s all one interconnected system. If you only thumbpull without addressing anything else, of course the results will be limited. But let's see how you do🔥 Also P.S. I do have quite a few transformations where you can clearly see differences in nasal projection, which is one of the best visual indicators of maxillary development. And don’t neglect the muscles! Changes in muscle function and posture can stimulate osteoblast activity and help reinforce bone matrix. Equally when you slightly expand and release the fascia this will take some pressure off the masseters which in your case are slightly overdeloped as a compensation(to a slightly narrow/average palate) so should help in case you grind teett or have slight tmj dysfunction. Wishing you the best boss 🫡

Good morning Oscar, I appreciate the comment. As mentioned, despite my skepticism I am actually going to give it a proper try. I'm happy to take a look at any videos you have so I can double check that I have the technique down.

take some intermolar width measurements before you start

So you, with your wide palate, will undertake doing thumbpulling and see no results. These techniques are not for people like YOU. They are for the underdeveloped.

It's not just thumb pulling. It's fascia realignment in the face that holds the jaw back, and Oscar is teaching people to release all kinds of different holding patterns, muscles, and facial holding patterns to get the before and after. You need to do all the supplementals

Have you considered hosting Spaces on X? It would be awesome to talk to you about a lot of this stuff. I’ve been watching your content on YouTube for the past couple years and some of your stuff has helped a lot.

Spaces - how does this work

Spaces are like a live podcast or group call anyone on X can drop into. One person hosts and other people can join and listen. The host can then select listeners to speak. Your followers get notified when you start one and they show up at the top of the app when live.

People who do this thumbpulling and mewing thing should realize it can cause cervical instability (CCI). Once you have CCI, it’s over.

If thumb pulling really DOES work, won't it cause you to have an overbite? I don't see this being useful unless you also pull the lower jaw to match, in order to keep your bite aligned. It seems like keeping the correct alignment would be a challenge.

Important project but might be better starting with someone with a face further from ideal masculine

trusting a Patel should be a warning

I’m so glad you’re taking this on. I was tempted to try this but I’m pretty sure the upper maxilla is essentially fixed in place, fused to the surrounding skull bones once you reach adulthood.

Wouldn't it work on the same premise that stuff like invisalign works, even for adults? Consistent small pressure applied repetitively over prolonged periods?

invisalign is about 20 hours a day

Fair point, it shows pressure applied consistently long term works. The only question then is if using the thumb method exerts sufficient pressure over a long time to make a difference. If the effect is muscle related, or tendon related, it could mean it works.

Looking forward to seeing your results!

I will not stand for this @OscarPatel slander

See you in 6 weeks

Mewing is better no need for "one billion reps" just stick your tongue to the roof of mouth

you are already a gigachat

anyway to involve a scientist or someone?

"... so the way thumb pulling works..." It doesn't work.

Your videos on nutrition were interesting, and your shorts humiliating Bryan Johnson. I would like to watch your take on Peating.

Ur unc ngmi

Keep it up for a year.

@grok how does one “move their mandible”?

Good stuff. It’s sad to see people defend this

When am I helping you with visionmaxxing

You think they'll deport you from japan

...but your face and jaw are already perfect.

Great content. Make sure you’re posting the full content here and not just on YouTube because X is going to reward you like crazy for posting original content here.

a new player has entered the arena

Looksmaxxing stops at grooming yourself and going to the gym, all the rest is bullshit

Always good to know some people still have integrity
