Lou Williams on playing with Kobe Bryant: “It was a eye opening experience because he showed me not everybody took basketball as serious as I thought they did. He was dead serious about hoop. He was militant about his approach to basketball. The way he saw the game. The... show more

Russell Westbrook on playing Kobe Bryant at UCLA as a College kid “I remember him just telling me you gon be aight because you came at me. He was playing like it was the finals. He was playing the game as if he wasn’t gonna play tomorrow. He curated this mentality in my mind like this is what greatness looks like. That’s the mentality I’ve been able to take with me till this day”.

I use my page to talk about mentality a lot because the game has declined due to the soft mindset of today’s players. Kobe was the last of a breed who treated EVERY game like it was his LAST. His body broke down because he never took a night off and respected the fans. The All-Star Game becoming a joke is the result of players not caring about basketball, taking no pride in the product, and only caring about their paycheck/personal brand. Kob NEVER cheated the game. He NEVER ducked competition. He is forever LOVED because of it 🐍🙏

Julius Erving talking about playing with Charles Barkley: “I kept seeing his upside. He was hard-headed. He had something to say about everything. If he didn’t play as good as he can and well as he was capable of playing or whatever, then some of the things he did wouldn’t be tolerated. But they were tolerated because, you know, he was exceptional, man. He could rebound it, take it coast to coast, make play. And for his height to rebound the way that he did, it was incredible. It was kind of disruptive because we had won the championship the year before he got there. Then the year that he got there. We had to make room for him and he almost killed Marc Iavaroni cuz he was playing the four, Charles was like that’s my spot right there. This going back to violence in the game because the next man up. Me and you man. He get Iavaroni at his back. He back him all the way out to the top of the key” (Via All the Smoke)

Paul Pierce says he was disappointed in Detroit Pistons effort and urgency for a game 7: “I would have thought this was the first game of the regular season the way Detroit played, that’s what it look like. Vince Goodwill thinks Kobe ‘Stans’ are being hypocritical about Bam passing his 81 because Kobe stole the moment during Michael Jordan’s last All Star game in 2003: “Kobe Stans think the man did no wrong, better than MJ, they think the man was a basketball angel instead of what he really was. A competitive, ruthless, basketball demon. Stephen A you were at the All Star game in 03, that was supposed to be MJ moment. He hit the fadeaway over Shawn Marion and everybody thought the game was going to end then. What did Kobe Bryant do? Kobe said ‘this gonna be my moment! Forget Michael Jordan! Forget the story. I’m going for It!’ For Kobe Bryant stans to say Bam Adebayo shouldn’t have passed Kobe’s mark, I don’t think these people know who Kobe really was and what he stood for!” (Via First Take)

Tim Hardaway tells story of playing pickup with high school LeBron James: “We was playing a game and it was a 3 on 2. We knew he liked to pass. Me and a guy, he went one way and I went the other way to stop the pass. Motherf*cker just took off from the FT line. He coming down full speed and the MF just took off. We was like ‘damn.’ He missed the dunk but we was like ‘damn did you see that MF take off like that?” (Via 4th and South)

Squid Game 3 cast talks about Thanos / Actor Choi Seunghyun 💕 Gyu-young: He had the strongest characteristics who was the most unique who had the strongest identity in Squid Game Byung-hun: He played a really interesting role this time but actually on set, he considered a lot about every single thing. So he always discussed with the director, like 'How is it?' "How about doing in this way?' The result was shown as a really interesting, unexpected, and funny character but on set, I thought there's no one with as serious mindset as his. Jung-Jae: I thought it's a hard character to play. He was a rapper and he played a rapper character in the series. He had to think about showing himself as well as hiding himself so it was the character where he had to make that hard choice. 🔗 #TOP #탑 #최승현 #CHOISEUNGHYUN #TTTOP

Matt Barnes on when he fake threw the ball in Kobe Bryant face in the finals: “The Orlando sh*t I told him in our last interview like bro I was ready to fu*king like I was ready to go, like fu*k basketball. Was ready to throw that ball in your face. Because he gets like he’s already so good but then he’ll elbow you and grab you and I remember I caught a dunk tip off the rim because he was guarding me and he tried to block Dwight shot and it fell of perfect and I put that b***h down and that motherfu*kers elbowing me from like my waist to my chest to like my chin and the ref was right here and didn’t say nothing. I was ready to go. He had already elbowed me in my sternum and knocked the wind out of me that game. It was just who he was, you know what I mean? And it was after the game and be you good, it was that line of respect.” (Via Out The Mud Podcast)

Anthony Davis on Kobe 🔥🔥 "Hes not human, i already knew Kobe was special but this is when i was like this dude here theres nobody like him. In the middle of the game he tears his rotator cuff, he comes back on the game shooting left handed. They come back and win the game, it just shows you the level of competitiveness that Kobe had in him and how much he wanted to win" Kobe was different 🐐

This kid didn't see it until he dove underwater right as a manatee was swimming up to them. Dad saw it at the last minute and clearly knew what it was and not to panic. Looks like he did a great job at calming the kids down and fully appreciating the moment.

Mike Brown says the best thing about Kobe Bryant was his bluntness “There were a lot of coaches that coached Kobe, around Kobe, that had a hard time because Kobe was blunt. Kobe’s going to look you in the eye and tell you what he wants to tell you.” “For me, I liked that because I felt I always knew where I stood. You never have to assume anything. If he didn’t like it, he was going to tell you. So that was, for me, the best part about him.” “Now you throw in his competitiveness and all this other stuff, and it was great. The thing that was tough was because he had won championships with Phil, and he won them a certain way.” “It was hard as a young coach to say, ‘Hey, Kobe, let’s do it this way, new style.’ He wasn’t having it. And I don’t blame him because I’d probably be the same way too if I experienced five championships doing it a certain way.”
