Utah Bill to Strip Public Assistance from Undocumented Immigrants, those in the state illegally Passes Committee 7-3 Utah lawmakers are debating House Bill 88, sponsored by Rep. Trevor Lee, a Republican from Layton. This bill would require strict verification of lawful presence in the U.S. before anyone 18 or older can receive most state or locally funded public benefits. It removes many current exceptions, meaning programs like WIC nutrition for women, infants, and children, food assistance, vaccinations, treatment for communicable diseases, housing aid, homeless services, and non-emergency health care could be off-limits to those without legal status. Emergency medical care and short-term disaster relief would still be allowed regardless of immigration status. Bill sponsor Rep. Trevor Lee, calls it a "priority bill to put Utahns first," arguing taxpayer dollars should go to citizens and legal residents, not undocumented immigrants, and that it reduces incentives for illegal immigration. The law must take its course and the state alone must enforce laws, because it’s got the responsibility to do that. We have not opposed people who have publicly protested the issue of illegal immigration but have called for those protests to occur within the confines of the law. No citizen of our country must take the law unto their own hands, chase people, show hatred and call people “amakwerekwere”. That is not ubuntu, that is not South African. These are Africans, and they might have landed in our country illegally and we believe that lawfully as we are seeing our government at this moment, they must be assisted to go back home peacefully. We must protect our borders as BMA is doing because they are too porous. Let us not make it possible for illegal immigration to flourish in our country. #RegisterToVoteANC #LGE2026

I'm glad that Tim Burchett is now the leader of the DOGE committee and we need to pick up where MTG refused to do. We need to eliminate waste and fraud in our country and start putting more of our taxpayer dollars back in our pocket. My representative Rep. Tony Wied and a few others are sponsoring a bill to abolish USAID and the 41.1 Billion dollars they are still receiving to go to places that are not serving America or MAGA. (H.R.1029) I will keep pushing for this and Tim I hope you speak with them and get this across and passed in the committee and then on to the house to pass it and we will go from there. Expose every republican who votes against it.
