Love having these four come in and challenge themselves. They ran this swing-decision drill on their own, taking the riseball and attacking the fastball, and it was great hearing them celebrate the good decisions and lift each other up when they missed one. I’ve been working with this group... for a year, and beyond their swings, my main goal has been to push them and help them understand that real growth comes from being challenged, even when you fail. While they were working, I heard things like “it’s all mindset, once you see it enough you’ll recognize the riseball” and “don’t guess, be ready for the fastball and react to the riseball.” I was in the middle of a lesson, but hearing that fired me up. That’s the stuff that will make them better at the next level. At my aunts old Chinese buffet that was located inside of a Howard Johnson, we had an issue with theft. People would come in and enjoy the buffet but we noticed the ones with backpacks and big purses would have ziploc bags and Tupperware in their backpacks and purses. My aunt and uncle are very reasonable people, the price they charge for the buffet is the price customers pay to enjoy it while they are there. No carry out boxes are permitted to take anything home. The restaurant even has a sign that prohibits these items and the sign says to leave them in your hotel room or in your car. When my aunt and uncle left for vacation they had me fill in to run the restaurant for them. I had a group of 6 teenagers come into the restaurant from the hotel. I chit chatted with them being friendly and they said they were in town for a softball tournament. I didn’t seat them, one of the waiters did so I didn’t notice anything strange. But when they all got up to get food they always got huge heaping plates of food, they repeatedly went to get more food. On one occasion I noticed a black backpack tucked into the booth between the seat and the wall. I checked the cameras and yes, they took turns eating and when they thought nobody was looking they would dump the food into a bag in their backpack. I saw a huge plate of crab legs disappear, a plate of crab Rangoon and chicken wings was next. On their way to pay I said something to them. I mentioned I saw what they were doing and to avoid an issues I would be charging them double. I felt that was fair because that was the price of a Togo buffet. They were embarrassed, I was expecting an argument but they said they wanted extra food for when they got hungry at night after their game. I wanted to be lenient and just give it to them but if I did that for one person I would have to do it for all and it would costs the restaurant too much for food costs. But they did end up paying the double price and to be fair to them I did give them each a Togo container since I charged them for it. I told them to dump their food into it and if they had extra room in the Togo box they can grab more food. I managed to diffuse the situation and turned it into something positive, I feel that was more than fair.

Looking at these women, that I remember as giggling teens, it’s truly remarkable how they’ve grown and how far they have come. What they were about to be asked and would say, I had no expectations. Whatever they gave, I was ready to receive. And what I received was a confirmation of reassurance. That the constant, albeit annoying, pleas from solos who despise their relationship, will never get what they want. But Becky and Freen, what they want is clearly each other in the ways that they were before. I’m sure there is some toxic opinion out there, ranting about something about them not being the same, blah blah. But please make this distinction, they have been the same, privately, their comfort level, their closeness, their talks of sharing, their jokes with one another. We know some of this from lives, TikToks, other interviews, etc. The specificity of what Becky requested was clearly a mutual consideration of both girls. One wanting more time and the other wanting to give her a break after working. It was one saying, no I still want to be around you even after being with each other all day for work and the other saying I know now and I want to take you out too. They essentially had a conversation that they probably would have had in private in front of our salad. But it was good that it happened, because many people needed to see it. And they needed to see Becky say and initiate it and for Freen to quickly say she was so ready for it. First of all, they are both people who truly love their fans and are genuinely excited to see how they grow together with them over time. And the fact that they still choose to do it—even if it means extending the event—speaks volumes about how deeply they care. For WilliamEst, it’s important that all their fans get to see them. Because let’s be honest: being physically close to them doesn’t always mean you actually get to see them clearly or interact with them. It’s like having them right there, yet somehow still far away. I know both of them are aware of this, and that’s why they try to find ways to share at least a few seconds with each fan. Est talks with the organizers to plan a walk around the venue that allows them to greet all the fans, while William shares his idea of the route with LYKN so that every fan has the chance to see them or say hello. And you know what the best part is? It’s never just a rushed greeting. They take their time—to greet, to interact, to look into the cameras of almost every fan, even doing the poses the fans ask for. That’s what makes the interaction feel even more genuine. These gentleman were hired to clear land for her houses being built. They were mowing and clearing trees when this woman comes up and yells at them. She’s demanding to see their plans and where they are working and who they are working for. The land she’s on isn’t hers, she lives down the hill where they aren’t working yet she’s asserted that she has the authority to be there and question them. Would you answer anything she asks at this point knowing she’s just being a nosy neighbor?

I went to junior hockey a year too early. It was the hardest year of my life. Thank God I have a great family that supported me through the tough moments. But here’s the thing… My family always told me the truth and never let me make excuses. Even though we may have made the wrong decision rushing the process, the message from my parents was always to be the best teammate I could be, work through the tough stuff, and I’ll be better for it on the other side. In today’s landscape where kids are trying to get to the next level as fast as possible instead of at the right time, there will be many kids in my shoes. So for all the families out there that may be in that situation with their kid… Don’t make excuses for them. Don’t tell them it’s not fair and they’re getting screwed. Help them to look in the mirror, control what they can control, and focus on getting better and earning what they get. If my family made excuses for me or blamed other people, I would not have made it. I’m thankful for the tough moments and my parents helped me understand it was a part of the process.

I’ve been swarmed like this while driving in Florida. The kids were in a huge group, I couldn’t tell how many there was but it seemed like 50 of them or more. Lucky for me I wasn’t driving, I was a passenger in an Uber trying to get to the airport. The Uber driver must have had experience with them because he was just driving along like normal while I was thinking they were going to hit us. The rest of the ride seemed to go without a hitch. This woman was just going to the store when they looked like they targeted her and was riding the bikes recklessly. They were swerving as if they were going to hit her and riding while doing wheelies. I don’t know about you but I’m tired of this. I can only speak out against this for so many times until something bad happens and then everyone wants to play the blame game and act surprised that it happened. Am I against kids having fun? No of course not. But I want them to be safe too instead of becoming a statistic. I’ve been swarmed like this while driving in Florida. The kids were in a huge group, I couldn’t tell how many there was but it seemed like 50 of them or more. Lucky for me I wasn’t driving, I was a passenger in an Uber trying to get to the airport. The Uber driver must have had experience with them because he was just driving along like normal while I was thinking they were going to hit us. The rest of the ride seemed to go without a hitch. This woman was just going to the store when they looked like they targeted her and was riding the bikes recklessly. They were swerving as if they were going to hit her and riding while doing wheelies. I don’t know about you but I’m tired of this. I can only speak out against this for so many times until something bad happens and then everyone wants to play the blame game and act surprised that it happened. Am I against kids having fun? No of course not. But I want them to be safe too instead of becoming a statistic. For as long as I can remember, I’ve dreamed of playing softball at the next level. Today, that dream is becoming a reality, and my heart is filled with so much gratitude. I know it didn’t happen by accident. Through every high, every low, every setback, and every answered prayer, God was preparing me for this moment. I trust His plan, His timing, and the purpose He has for my life, knowing that His plans are always greater than anything I could have imagined. I’m beyond blessed and incredibly emotional to announce that I have committed to Florida State University to continue my academic and softball career! This moment means so much more than just a commitment. It represents years of work, sacrifice, perseverance, and faith. It represents the people who believed in me when I didn’t always believe in myself. This is San Francisco in 1985. I miss my grandparents. I miss all of my family who are no longer here. When my grandparents came to visit, we would go to SFO to pick them up, and no one was ever happier to see me than they were. This was back when you could walk right up to the gate. I was always excited to see if this would be the year I was finally taller than my grandma. Having them in town was the best. The meals my grandma cooked for us were amazing, and their stories were always just as great. We would take them to San Francisco and do all the touristy stuff like North Beach and Fisherman’s Wharf, but none of that really mattered. What mattered was that we were all together. They’ve been gone for years now, but I think of them often. I wonder what it would have been like to talk to them as an adult, to connect in a different way than I could as a kid. I guess life isn't really designed that way for everyone, to grow up and have those deeper conversations, to understand who they were beyond being your grandparents. But I have gotten to know them in new ways, through old photos, home movies, and the stories other family members have shared with me. It amazes me to think of the full lives they both lived long before I was ever born. If you still have your grandparents, give them a call. Say hello. Learn as much as you can from them while you still can.

The best thing about working with female clients is when they record a testimonial for you they make themselves presentable. Guys will record their testimonial in the dark, shirtless, on the toilet. Frank Slootman: “Being a CEO is a highly confrontational role” “I’ve gone one record a few times and people have taken me to task on it, when I’ve said that being a CEO is a highly confrontational role. But they think that ‘confrontational’ means I’m grabbing people by the lapels and slamming them against the wall and yelling. That’s not what I mean by confrontation.” The former CEO of Snowflake and ServiceNow continues: “Confrontation is about confronting issues and situations. When you see something that is either not good, not good enough, or can be better, you need to talk to the team and people responsible to bring them along in your thinking.” In Frank’s view, the framing should be: “this is why I am saying this, what do you think?” The goal of the conversation is to help them see the problems you’re seeing. You should be driving them to a “higher level of aspiration,” he explains. “I often start the conversation with, ‘How do you think things are going?’ I’m not telling them ‘you suck,’ or ‘things are terrible.’ Let them talk. And then you can say, ‘Well what about this?’ And all of a sudden, the perspective has opened up and changed. So the challenge is bringing them along in your thinking — then it’s not confrontational… Obviously there’s finesse and subtlety. You’re dealing with people. You don’t want to destroy them. You want to build them, not bring them down.” You need to help them grow: “People have a tendency to go sideways. They rinse and repeat and keep doing the same things. You can’t in a high-growth company. You need to become a different version of yourself. I’m trying to help them think through that. What does that look like?
