If you plan on a new puppy after you say goodbye don't put it off. Your old friend will train your new puppy and show it proper behavior for the household, it will be the last gift to you.

This is exactly what we had to do when our old flat coat retriever started having problems since he got older we got him his very own puppy. We adopted a Boston terrier bull terrier mix puppy and she really motivated him and they played and played really got him up and moving again and I say we got another Good 4 to 5 years out of him of good life by getting him a puppy and we still have her. She’s going on 10 and she’s starting to show her age now, but she really is a joy and still pretty spunky and playful for the most part.

They’re never too old for a new puppy because they live up again. Mine was 10 years when I got him a puppy and he lived till the age of 15,5 years and then my youngest was alone and I went to the shelter to adopt a boxer from 4 months and they were the best friends

I just put a Rotti down a few months ago for the same reason, Didn't want him to suffer through our Winter here in Alaska, he was having a hard time with the stairs in the summer. Miss my Buddy Bandit

I am a firm believer in getting a pup for your older dog to help train puppy up. They put them in check and teach them things. I want to get a puppy for our dog. He's seemed so bored no matter how often we get up to play, give him attention or take him on walks. He seems sad 😔 This really brought a spark back to the senior dog. ❤️

We got Lily when Lucy was 10. Before that was Chloe who passed. They became fast friends and Lucy was happier for the last three years of her life. Lily is 8 now and pals with our cats. One day I will have another when I can give all it deserves ❤️

Soooo true, I got my senior a puppy brother 5 years ago because she was ready to go, she just turned 17 and still going strong ❤️❤️❤️🥰🙏🏻🥰❤️❤️❤️. He keeps her young and on her toes 😂

Same thing happened to my Timmy-older dog lost his best friend and was severely depressed, is deaf and has bad eyesight. Got a 2 year old dog and Timmy is playing like he’s young again. When he’s tired he just jumps on the sofa❤️

Awww! This happened to us yrs ago, dog getting old and somewhat incapacitated. We got a puppy and doggy lasted another 6 years.

Bless her. She was just lonely and needed some company.
