Moment of concern on Sunday night due to a situation of proximity that occurred during the approach of two planes on Runway 14R/32L at Bogota El Dorado Airport. On April 19, a Lufthansa Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner operating flight LH542 from Frankfurt (FRA) to Bogota (BOG), and a Qatar Boeing 777 Cargo, operating flight QR8174 from Sao Paulo to Bogota, flew dangerously close while landing on Runway 32L at Bogota El Dorado Airport The trajectory of two aircraft that were approaching to Bogota shows, flight LH542 was few hundred feet above Qatar QR8174 and decided for a Go-around. Reports suggest the aircraft may be sold to the U.S. Air Force, potentially linked to ongoing Air Force One replacement delays. • D-ABYD (13 years old) exiting the fleet in Jan 2026 • D-ABYG (12 years old) exiting the fleet in Q3 2026 Lufthansa treats its 19 Boeing 747-8s as true flagships, operating them conservatively on long-haul missions only and avoiding high-cycle or harsh desert operations. These aircraft thus still offer decades of usable airframe margin, making them potentially suitable for the USAF. For the USAF, airframe life matters more than calendar age—these jets still have decades of structural margin remaining. It was truly an honor to organize the Sinamale’ Bridge opening ceremony, which featured South Asia’s first synchronized fireworks. This landmark event, the largest in Maldives history, was made possible through President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s constant guidance and support. The inauguration held 6 years ago, was a memorable night with the completion of the Maldives first bridge of its kind, completed with the assistance of China Aid. I also want to highlight President Dr. Muizzu’s significant contributions during his tenure as Minister, overseeing this groundbreaking project to its successful completion. #ChinaMaldivesFriendshipBridge
