Made with Element 3D by @fafa_motion #aescripts #aftereffects #element3d I completed the animation for these perfect designs for the Commission | Zenless Zone Zero 2024 at @flatwhitemotion . It was an incredibly memorable experience. I didn’t have much time to think about the logic—I just went with my instincts to complete the animations. I created some rigs to help me quickly finish many of them. It was great to work alongside so many talented people. This is one of my favorite projects from this year. My objective was to create anticipation and keep the viewer in a constant state of expectation. I structured the audio using rising textures, controlled impacts, and progressively intensifying low-end energy to generate momentum. Each transition was carefully shaped to reinforce the rhythm and heighten suspense, guiding the audience toward key moments without fully resolving the tension. The result creates a strong sense of buildup and emotional pull, encouraging the viewer to want more rather than revealing everything at once. Thoughts on transferable skills. I was surprised reading the comments to Riley’s question about best UI animation tool for web. To anyone interested in diving into motion design I would strongly recommend - aim to become a motion expert, not Jitter/Rive/Lottie specialist. If you start from the foundations, jumping into any animation tool will feel like a walk in the park. Keyframes, easing functions, transformations - same concepts are shared between all of them. Getting to know the foundations on the web means starting with CSS, Tailwind or React Motion. I’m often creating small motion concepts in Figma (see video) and then recreating them manually in code. Any language, it doesn’t matter because principles are the same. I recently made the switch to Swift and built a small animation tool for myself (see video) that I’ll discard after I’m done with the motion. This level of comfortableness with motion gives you unmatched flexibility. From that point, tools are just interfaces for expressing something you already deeply understand. This is not about performance or technical optimizations (Lottie files can outperform CSS equivalents), tools mentioned above really are great - it’s about developing transferable creative skill that lets you think across any medium, platform or tool.

Update from Universal Ostrich Farms... Tomorrow is November 11th, Remembrance Day. I have been on mission here with my brother Sgt. Mike Rude (retired) for over a month. Mike made an incredibly difficult decision to postpone our planned Remembrance Day obligations to stay here and capture the carnage. I had trouble making that decision, I can only imagine how difficult it was for Mike. Tomorrow, we will spend some time with Mike and show the incredible interview that Jon Villeneuve just released. Mike works tirelessly driving from coast to coast, supporting veterans and the families of the fallen. Tomorrow we will honour Mike and we will help further his mission.
