🚇 Major Milestone for Metro Line 2B: 252 MT Span Lifted Over Central Railway Tracks in Just Two Hours Between 1 AM and 3 AM on June 14, MMRDA successfully completed the launch of the first composite steel span over the Central Railway corridor between Kurla and Vidyavihar stations... on the CSMT–Panvel section. The 54.25-metre-long span, comprising four composite steel girders weighing a massive 252 metric tonnes, was erected within a tight two-hour railway block through meticulous planning and close coordination with Central Railway authorities. The operation involved tandem lifting using two 500 MT hydraulic cranes, backed by a standby crane, and was executed under stringent safety and quality protocols by a dedicated team of 30 engineers and technical staff, along with 100 skilled and unskilled personnel. All statutory approvals and block permissions were secured in advance. From precision fabrication and rigorous quality checks to flawless on-site execution, this achievement reflects MMRDA's commitment to engineering excellence, precision and safety in delivering world-class infrastructure for Mumbai.
