making perf testing fun: the reverse image search i built for Patina Systems is so fast we can literally search your library with a camera feed. it will embed each frame from the stream in ~10ms and finds the most similar photos in my last 20k photos in ~15-20ms,... show more

we're working on a new photo search engine called Angles. it's focused on doing one thing well: finding photos + videos by visual similarity. here is raw, unedited footage of me going through my 80,000 photo camera roll *in realtime* with text-to-image search, image-to-image search, "find similar" inside of a photo, and "live search" with the camera. all done with local models and completely private. auto-growing albums coming soon :-) Angles has been exceptionally useful for my friends who do creative work. when words fail to describe what you are looking for, you can simply tap on any asset and instantly see everything else like it across your entire library. we're in early beta - if you want access please send a DM to Patina Systems with your testflight email! i have spots available for another 50 people

I've been experimenting with making a thumbnail search engine for YouTube. Put in a thumbnail, and it will show you similar thumbnails. Click on any thumbnail to see the most similar thumbnails. What do you think?

Making it so you can search data directly in the top bar. Would you prefer if we bring the search box out to a modal panel like this or keep it as is?

I asked Opus 4.6 in Claude Code to build me Borges's Library of Babel. An hour later it delivered this. The AI implemented a Feistel cipher so each possible book has a real location, you can search for text across the Library & find the book. Enter it:

With Atlas, you can literally make films. And it also basically solves first-frame-last-frame transitions. Reconstruct a 3D scene from images, then position the camera exactly where you want it, and let Atlas fill in what the camera would see along that path. You’re in the director's chair, staging the scene. Here we made a 1 min video with a couple images of totally different scenes, and we set where the camera keyframes should move through each part of the scene. The scene-to-scene transitions are great. Atlas makes it feel like a smooth shot with no cuts.

This is how you build the next generation of AI applications. You need an idea, a good model architecture, and a great harness. That's what MUZIM did. It's an app that runs local multimodal and vision models offline to parse and index your images, videos, and documents frame by frame. • Super fast on-device processing • On-device video & image understanding • You can also bring your API keys for heavy reasoning • Your data stays where it is / nothing goes to the cloud You can do a couple of things with this: 1. Vibe searching for whatever you remember in photos or raw video clips. The app will jump straight to the exact frame and timestamp of the video. This is search as it should be. 2. Use local-running agents to perform tasks on your files. I show a couple of examples in my video. You can check it out here: Thanks to the MUZIM by OpenSoul team for showing me the tool and partnering with me on this post.

I can search a database with 32 million records in less than 50 milliseconds. This speed is insane! There's no reason your search is slow. There's no reason you aren't using this library when building applications with a lot of data. Take a look at typesense |. It's an open-source search engine. It's crazy fast and easy to use. They are sponsoring this post. Here is their GitHub repository: You can use the library in Python, JavaScript, PHP, Ruby, Swift, and pretty much any other programming language out there. Here are some of the things you can do with Typesense: • Vector search over embeddings • Conversational search for RAG applications • Image similarity search • Voice search And it does all of this extremely fast. A few interesting notes about the library: • Optimized for developer happiness • Works out of the box for most use cases • Very intuitive API • Easy to deploy and scale Probably the best way to compare them is against ElasticSearch. The latter is much more complex to configure and run with a steep learning curve. Check their GitHub repository. They have examples, tutorials, and everything you need.

The 18MP selfie camera in the iPhone 17 is huge It’s a square sensor, so you get horizontal and vertical photos and videos while holding it normally, so you don’t need to rotate it. It also uses AI to automatically switch between views depending on who’s in the frame.

FIRST MEETUP EVER… MY MIND IS BLOWN 🤯 The community amit has built is unreal. So many cool people, all age groups, from all over the world. I uploaded all my photos at the Google Photos link in the reply below - please add yours too so we can relive it 🙏 Grateful to be a part of it. Comment if you attended and what your favorite part was. I cherish every moment with each of you, even if it was brief. Shoutout to the crew 🙌

NEW: We fixed email search 🚀🚀 Starting today you can ask your email anything—literally anything with Cora. Some examples: - When is my trip to Salt Lake City? - What was the first email I ever sent? - What emails do I tend to procrastinate on? Cora will agentically search through your inbox and give you the best possible answer in just a few seconds. Like Claude Code for your emails!

My vibe coded mosaic thing is live. - Web GL - Unplash API - Lil’ configurators - Built in React (I don’t know react very well at all) Built it so that I can feed it svg icons or photos. Use the same component through the site. Upload your own avatar, mess around with the pixels and download. ✨

Last week, we introduced Personal Intelligence in the Google Gemini. Today, we’re bringing that same helpful experience to AI Mode in Google Search 🔍 Now, you can securely connect Search to Google apps like Gmail and Google Photos to get responses that are uniquely relevant to you. This experimental feature is built with Gemini 3, our most intelligent model, and is strictly opt-in — meaning you choose if and when you want to connect these apps. Here’s what that looks like in Search 🧵(1/7) ↓

🚨Cognitive Citizen Series – Episode 2 📍In today's AI era, not everything you see or hear is real. AI-generated images and videos can spread disinformation in minutes. 👉 Before you believe or share, use Reverse Image Search: ✅ Capture a screenshot of the image or video frame. ✅ Search it using Google Lens or any Reverse Image Search tool. ✅ Check where it first appeared online. ✅ Compare results with trusted and official sources. ✅ Verify before you amplify. 🛡️ Think. Verify. Protect. 👍 Be Aware. Be Cognitive. Be Resilient. #CognitiveCitizen #BeCognitive #DigitalLiteracy

Looking for one particular file in a library containing years of photos, videos, screenshots, documents, and project files can be a nightmare. MUZIM by MUZIM by OpenSoul approaches this differently. It understands the content itself, so you can search based on what you actually remember. The interesting part starts when remembering the moment is enough: 👇

NEW: Perplexity just released pplx-embed, a series of powerful embedding models. Inspired by their logo, I built a small semantic search demo: enter a query and the model retrieves the most relevant page. Everything runs locally in your browser with Transformers.js and Three.js
