The judge presiding over one of the cases filed by the ICPC against Mallam El-Rufai has so far rejected every bail application made even though the charges against Mallam El-Rufai before the court are bailable. In denial bail, he has verbatim sided with the ICPC's position - essentially agreeing that Mallam Nasir El-Rufai is a flight risk - which is absolutely preposterous - especially in view of the fact that Mallam El-Rufai voluntarily returned to the country to honor the invitation by the anti-graft agencies. It is more than curious that the presiding Judges in both cases (including the one by the ICPC of a similar nature in FHC Kaduna) did not consider Mallam El-Rufai a flight risk. It is the Judge in the state high court Kaduna that adjuges that Mallam El-Rufai is a flight risk and who has repeatedly denied him bail, again for clearly bailable offences. You be the judge, here. Meanwhile, aside from refusing bail, the bail rulings by the Judge in question have been characterised by the use of words that essentially amount to convicting Mallam before the trial even commences. It is for this reason that Mallam’s lawyers filed an application for the judge to recuse himself from trying the case - and rightly so - because there is zero confidence of Mallam getting a fair trial under him. We continue to demand that proper due process should be followed. Everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty, including Mallam Nasir El-Rufai. Bail, where applicable - as it clearly is in the case of Mallam El-Rufai - is a right. Denying him bail on untenable grounds amounts to imprisonment without conviction, abuse of his fundamental rights and injustice.

My findings are clear, the crisis did not begin with Mallam Nasir El-Rufai. Its roots lie deep in historical tensions driven by indigene versus settler debates, competition over land between farming and pastoralist groups, and decades of government absence in enforcing justice and development. The conflict thrived because successive governments allowed local elites to exploit it either through weak law enforcement, political favoritism, or deliberate neglect of rural communities. The book “The Crisis of Belonging and Ethnographies of Peacebuilding in Kaduna State” particularly highlights how colonial structures and post colonial identity politics deepened the indigene settler divide. Southern Kaduna became a battlefield not because its people were naturally violent, but because politics weaponized ethnicity and religion as tools for dominance. Meanwhile, “Civil Military Relations and Conflict Management in Nigeria (2010–2017)” reveals how the crisis persisted due to inconsistent state responses weak law enforcement, poor intelligence coordination, and manipulation by politicians seeking sympathy or revenge. I must emphasize this with absolute clarity, El-Rufai inherited a region already bleeding from decades of failed leadership. Dadiyata is trending because Mallam El-Rufai shared new information, suggesting ex Kano Governor Ganduje should be held responsible for the activist dissapearance since August 2019, in Kaduna. El Rufai added that, Ganduje is in position to know more. Because Ganduje was the major recipient of Dadiyata’s criticism. El Rufai claims he had no knowledge of Dadiyata’s existence, but people around him, particularly his sons openly commended Dadiyata’s disappearance on twitter. Dadiyata’s family strongly believed he was with the Kaduna government, that they took the state to court..it denied. Even some aides of APC, NNPP were actively interacting with him on twitter.. If Dadiyata is not found by August 2026, he will be legally confirmed dead, according to Section 164(1) of the Evidence Act, 2011. Stating that anyone not heard from or seen by associates or family etc, for 7yrs, would be naturally presumed dead. Some of my brethren from Southern Kaduna, with all due respect and appreciation of their documented long standing issues and dynamics, are buying and swallowing, hook, line and sinker, the narratives from their new found lovers that El-Rufai is demonic and evil, without pondering over their fate over history and time, even long before Nasir El-Rufai appeared on the scene, and placing them side by side to determine factually and objectively, how truly worse or better El-Rufai was for their cause and fate. I do not want to mention some of my APC brethren to whom El-Rufai has suddenly transformed from hero to villain, simply because he told us some hard truths about our party; truths which most of us know and some have equally voiced out. Tragically, some say, not unexpectedly, some of my brethren from the South East, many of whom have never crossed River Niger to the North, have already jumped in the fray and joined in the bandwagon of 'he hates Igbos and Christians' 'El-Rufai is evil', etc., much the same way they did to Buhari, without any sensible proof and without pondering over the motive of those orchestrating and feeding them such narrative. No lesson having been learnt. For a man whose watch word as Minister for FCT was excellence. Or did anyone hear that he favored any particular tribe or religion while he went about restoring the Abuja masterplan as its Minister? I have been in the FCT and I know firsthand. Put your ears to the ground, beyond the hype and the noise and hear stories about today. A man who as Governor of the cosmopolitan Kaduna state engaged Nigerians - Igbo, Yoruba and Hausa, Christian and Muslim and men and women alike, so long as they could add value to his governance of the state. Including many of those joining betrayers and ungrateful elements to castigate him today. I was not one of them, but I can't in good conscience pretend that I did not know. A man who inspite of his limitations as chief security officer of the state on paper, understood that security was paramount to delivering his mandate for the people who elected him and who God temporarily placed him in authority over. He was tough on every part, North and South alike, when need was. For him, criminality was criminality, no matter who orchestrated it. That is not to say that he was a saint or made no mistakes, but he who is a saint among us and of no sin, should cast the first stone. Compare and contrast your own state and state Governor with Mallam Nasir El-Rufai’s Kaduna state and El-Rufai as a Governor.
