Manatee, mother and child
11 条评论

Manatees, also called sea cows, are gentle marine mammals that can live up to 60 years. Mothers nurse their calves for 1-2 years, often carrying them on their backs. These herbivores are crucial for maintaining healthy seagrass ecosystems. Manatees have no natural predators but face threats from boat strikes and habitat loss. They are protected under the Endangered Species Act. Interestingly, their closest living relatives are elephants, sharing a common ancestor over 50 million years ago.

Chiitan is an otter mascot so water is Ok.
