Has the population reduced from 4m to 200k? You see my guy, siasa mbaya maisha mbaya. We all stood out to call out the rogue gvt while all along you were clapping for it. Turns out you had electricity for two days and was taken out later. Bad times uhu!

Mandera County is under siege. Jubaland forces from Somalia have crossed into Kenyan territory and are terrorizing our people, yet the CS for Interior continues to deny their presence. Even the President himself has chosen inaction, appearing too weak to defend the sovereignty of our nation. The Governor of Mandera has pleaded with the Commander-in-Chief to act, but instead, it seems Mr. Ruto is deliberately working to destabilize this country. A government that cannot protect its borders or its citizens has no moral right to call itself a government of the people.

He decried the trend in NE Kenya counties where the resources & administration is centralized in the county headquarters, and mostly in the office of the Governor. Sadly the subcounties exist only in name. The County Government Act has clear provisions on how the county is to be managed but is ignored. Residents expect better.

I’ve just been tagged in a video showing the state of Gedalo Primary School in Mandera. This is not politics. This is about dignity. Mandera receives millions in county funds and NG-CDF every year. The governor, Mohamed Aden Khalif, has been reported to own multiple properties in Nairobi. So a simple question must be asked, where is the money meant for schools and children going? Leadership is not measured by wealth accumulated, but by lives improved. The people of Mandera deserve answers. And ultimately, they deserve leadership that puts children first.

It is now the seventh day – something that has never happened before – of an emergency situation at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. Because of Russian shelling, the plant has been cut off from power, disconnected from the electrical grid, and is being supplied with electricity by diesel generators. This is extraordinary. The generators and the plant were not designed for this, have never operated in this mode for long, and we already have information that one generator has failed. It is Russian shelling that prevents repair of the power lines to the plant and the restoration of basic safety. This is a threat to everyone – no terrorist in the world has ever dared to do to a nuclear plant what Russia is doing. And it is right that the world does not stay silent.

And in the backyard of the current Governor! The least they are asking for is the protection of the pan so that there is no contamination. It's not asking too much. This week, he’s spending millions to move the Jamhuri Day celebrations from County Headquarters Mandera town to Elwak town to massage his ego. In the past month, he reportedly paid 20 bloggers sh 100K each to highlight his reports marking 3 years in office. Sadly, a fraction of this money would secure this water pan from pollution. A few months ago, a borehole was drilled 4 kms away. The priority should be to equip it & pipe the water to the town. While you defend that mandera mp who donated 300,00 ksh in makueni today , a 75-year-old woman in Mandera is walking over 10-15 km searching for water. No one is disputing personal charity. The question is leadership priorities. No one is denying history. No one is attacking communities. The question is accountability. Mandera has received billions through devolution, Equalization Fund and ASAL programs. If resources are coming, why is water still a gamble for the elderly? Donating KSh300,000 in Makueni may earn applause. Fixing water, schools and dignity in Mandera earns trust. Providing basic services to suffering citizens does not help or hurt Rigathi Gachagua, it helps the people of Mandera.

Last night in the Netherlands, Mandera Municipality was honored with the globally coveted Green City Award by the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH). This esteemed international body is dedicated to promoting sustainable horticulture and supports initiatives that enhance the green environment through global greening projects and sustainable production practices. The greening initiative in Mandera began in 2015 under my leadership as County Governor. At the time, many doubted the potential for success, but Alhamdulillah, our efforts have been recognized on a global scale. I am proud to dedicate this award to the 1,300 vulnerable mothers in Mandera Town who have journeyed with us, demonstrating unparalleled commitment to the greening of our town. These mothers, who not only contribute to mitigating climate change but also make a livelihood from it, deserve our heartfelt applause. I also wish to extend my gratitude to the residents of Mandera Town who embraced and doubled our greening efforts by planting trees in every homestead, creating a true community-driven environmental transformation. This esteemed international body is dedicated to promoting sustainable horticulture and supports initiatives that enhance the green environment through global greening projects and sustainable production practices. The greening initiative in Mandera began in 2015 under my leadership as County Governor. At the time, many doubted the potential for success, but Alhamdulillah, our efforts have been recognized on a global scale. I am proud to dedicate this award to the 1,300 vulnerable mothers in Mandera Town who have journeyed with us, demonstrating unparalleled commitment to the greening of our town. These mothers, who not only contribute to mitigating climate change but also make a livelihood from it, deserve our heartfelt applause. I also wish to extend my gratitude to the residents of Mandera Town who embraced and doubled our greening efforts by planting trees in every homestead, creating a true community-driven environmental transformation. Lastly, I would like to congratulate my successor, Governor Mohamed Adan Khalif, for ensuring the continuity of the Greening Mandera program since I left office in 2022. The progress we have achieved without external support is a testament to our community’s resilience and dedication. Imagine how much more we could accomplish with a little external support. Kudos to everyone involved—together, we can make a lasting difference.
