Mandera County Government: Haji Barre, a leader in my hometown of Rhamu, laid out the weaknesses in the county administration in a rally held in the town yesterday & attended by the Governor. He decried the trend in NE Kenya counties where the resources & administration is centralized in the county headquarters, and mostly in the office of the Governor. Sadly the subcounties exist only in name. The County Government Act has clear provisions on how the county is to be managed but is ignored. Residents expect better.

Mandera water crisis: Sh Abdirashid's emotional khutbah in Elwak yesterday on the severe water crisis in Mandera county. Very painful situation in several parts of the county. The county leadership accused by the Sheikh of wasting public resources on political tours when people are suffering. Urges all wellwishers to assist in the crisis. The weeping Sheikh stopped short of cursing the county leadership for neglecting the residents. I suggest the County Assembly convenes urgently to reallocate funding to address the water crisis. Water bowsers hired by the county also reportedly charging the poor residents, according to the Sheikh. The County administration should use the enforcement officers to ensure this practice is stopped.

Mandera power outage: KPLC outrage! Mandera residents today held a demonstration to protest lack of electricity after KPLC power plant collapsed once again, plunging the town into darkness. For several months now, there has been no stable power in the town of 200,000 people. Businesses, hotels, hospitals, etc all adversely affected. Residents have resorted to buying iceblocks from across the border in Somalia. KPLC recently installed 2 new generators just before William Samoei Ruto, PhD tour. Power disappeared shortly after he left. 60 yrs after independence, Mandera, like Wajir, is not yet connected to the national grid. Worse, KPLC cannot maintain the standalone generators. It's a company heavily subsidized by the Government. A big shame. The Kenya Power & Lighting Company Plc. Is a criminal enterprise & the power outage in Mandera could be a sabotage. The leadership of The Kenya Power & Lighting Company Plc._Care has failed to serve Mandera. It is inconceivable that the County administration & all the MPscan sit pretty when the headquarters is in darkness. It's not about functions. The Governor should walk into State House Kenya & demand this critical service for the people of Mandera. Or concession it to the private sector! Aibu!

Mandera County is under siege. Jubaland forces from Somalia have crossed into Kenyan territory and are terrorizing our people, yet the CS for Interior continues to deny their presence. Even the President himself has chosen inaction, appearing too weak to defend the sovereignty of our nation. The Governor of Mandera has pleaded with the Commander-in-Chief to act, but instead, it seems Mr. Ruto is deliberately working to destabilize this country. A government that cannot protect its borders or its citizens has no moral right to call itself a government of the people.

It’s funny how the loudest voices come from the biggest failures. A Senator who embezzled over 130 billion with nothing to show for it. Mandera County still struggles with poor roads, water shortages, and underdeveloped healthcare and electricity. President William Samoei Ruto, PhD has concluded his six-day development tour of the western region. 1. The President began his working tour in Mumias, Kakamega County, by presiding over the issuance of Ksh 150 million in bonuses to Mumias Sugar Company farmers. 2. The government will build 15 new markets in Kakamega County to empower businesses in the region. 3. The President also inspected the ongoing construction of the 220-unit Lurambi Affordable Housing Project and launched the Last Mile Electricity Connectivity Project, which will connect more than 35,000 households in Kakamega County. 4. He launched the Ksh 130 million project for the extension of a secondary dyke for the River Nzoia flood control project and broke ground for the construction of a tuition block for St. Anne’s Bunyala Girls Secondary School and St. Joseph’s Busagwa Primary School. 5. The President launched the construction of a modern market in Luanda, Vihiga County, that will accommodate 2,000 traders. 6. He laid the foundation stone for the construction of Khwisero Mother-Child Level IV Hospital. 7. The President inspected the Nasewa Export Processing Zone Authority in Busia County, which is expected to create more than 50,000 jobs for residents. He also inspected the Busia County Aggregation and Industrial Park. 8. He commissioned the Kijavi Village Electrification Project in Busia, which will connect over 20,000 households in the county. 9. The President presided over the groundbreaking of the Alupe Dam Water Supply Project, which aims to provide clean water to up to 100,000 people. 10. In Misikhu, Bungoma County, he launched the Last Mile Connectivity Programme to connect more than 28,000 households to electricity. 11. In Bumala, Busia County, the President launched the Bumala Modern Market, one of the 11 modern markets to be constructed in the county. 12. He laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Bungoma Modern Market.

Mandera town: These poor women in Bulla China in Mandera are complaining about being harassed & threatened with eviction by the county administration. It's a shame that they couldn't get audience from the Governor & are now forced to appeal to him through the media. Ali ibn Abi Talib ( RA) said: "It's the duty of the governor to shield the poor, the indigent & the helpless who have none to patronise, and safeguard their rights so that you are not obliged to give an excuse before God on the Day of Judgment. The MMC for Utilities - DA Cllr Themba Fosi - has for over three years failed to address this issue as a priority. However, through the exceptional work of ActionSA Tshwane Deputy Mayor, Dr Nasiphi Moya, significant progress has been made at several substations in Soshanguve, and with continued progress, residents can expect the power outages to be resolved within the next 18 months.
