A purse in the Yahara River… from 1978! 😳 In June, my Mermaid and I cleaned up the Yahara River (in Madison) 2 days in a row. This was the first day we dived and the second day video has already been posted. We were waiting for the Madison Police Department to call us back about the purse, but they never did… 🧐 We left the purse at our favorite dive shop in Madison, just in case they would want to investigate it further. 👍 It could quite possibly help solve a case! 🕵️‍♂️ We found many other items, but really loved finding the antique bottles, teapot and BATMAN! 😂 We cannot wait to come back and clean more! 🤿❤️🧜‍♀️🫧🗑️♻️

2018: Kostiantynivka, there are no russians. 2026: Kostiantynivka, the russians have arrived. Many of us love our hometowns, because if you were born there, the city chose you, not you it. Childhood memories, like a foundation, stay with us until our last day. The memories of many residents of Kostiantynivka, as well as of other destroyed cities in my country, are erased... Erased, because every time they touch upon memories of childhood or simply any time in the past, their memory immediately conjures today's picture of their city: in summer it is shades of green and black, in winter it is white and black. A long time ago, I heard words that penetrated very deeply into me: "There are tears on the face, and there are tears of the soul." Those who see their destroyed city/home are most likely already crying in their souls-there have already been more than enough tears on the face. 2018, it would seem not such a distant past.... One can only imagine how the fate of each person who happened to be in the frame of the person who made this video has turned out, how many of them are still alive... The russians continue to call this a war.

This is a Kinesin Molecule. These little molecular machines are commonly referred to as the "workhorse" of the cell, hauling important cargo like organelles, proteins and other cellular structures to their proper location within the cell. Kinesins are very clear & undeniable evidence of the intelligent design in Life. Kinesins are complex molecular machines, made up of 4 total proteins, each between 500-1,300 amino acids in length. If these aa sequences are not perfectly aligned from the beginning, Kinesin never forms, and cellular life would be unable to survive. Here is how they work: When a new protein, organelle, or other cellular structure is created in the Cytosol of the cell, they are constructed with built-in "binding tags," which are like shipping labels that bind to other protein molecules called Adaptor or Scaffold Proteins. These Adaptor/Scaffold Proteins then attach to the Kinesin's tail, which activates them, and then the Kinesin is guided along the microtubule track to its to its final destination. Kinesin walk on self-assembling tracks of other proteins, called microtubules, moving cargo from the inner area of the cell where they are constructed to the outer edges where they function. This is a complex & sophisticated interdependent network of molecular machines, all relying on one another to function properly for the health of the cell. This Intracellular Transportation system MUST be fully functional from the beginning - with all these working parts, or all of it fails, and the cell dies. Without this entire functioning system, Life could not exist. And the Kinesin is the centerpiece to all of it. Experiments have shown that disrupting Kinesin activity has catastrophic consequences. This type of nano-precision is an obvious example of designed engineering. Blind, unguided evolutionary processes cannot plan ahead and create complex informational highways for precision transportation. The proposed evolutionary explanation is simply "co-option." A nebulous term which basically amounts to, "We don't know how it evolved, but it must have evolved from some other thing that was similar in the past." No observational data supports evolutionary co-option. It's absurd to believe any part of this was built by blind chance. Everything in the cell points to Intelligent Design.

I would say at the stage that many and I've also had discussions and calls coming on the matter of our textile garment investments which are in Bangladesh, many of whom who come from Tamil Nadu. The investments went there in good faith and they did well having gone there. The exports from Bangladesh also increased and I know also because of the duty and quota liberal approach that we have towards low-income countries, they could even export to India and we were there for importing first. So particularly the garment and knitted fabric sector is seeing a bit of uncertainty because of that. I hope that the investments are all safe other than that at this stage, it's too early for me to see what kind of an impact this situation in Bangladesh will have on our economy. I hope that the interim government will settle things sooner rather than later so that both the people of Bangladesh and India can get back to normalcy."

Nick Lane thinks that half of the 20 billion Earth-like planets in the Milky Way will spontaneously generate early organics like nucleotides and amino acids. Because the chemistry which leads to their formation is so favored. But then where are all the aliens? The bottleneck to complex life, in his view, are eukaryotes. All the complex life you see around you is made of eukaryotic cells. Eukaryotic cells are typically 1000x bigger in volume and genome size. The key advantage eukaryotes have is that the mitochondrial genome is distinct from the nuclear genome. Respiration requires the relevant genes to be right there on site. For bacteria, respiration happens on the cell surface. If a bacterial cell were to expand, it would need to copy its entire genome across the entire membrane many, many times over. If a eukaryotic cell wants to get bigger, it just needs more mitochondria, which means it only needs to copy the mitochondrial genome (much much smaller than the full nuclear genome). I found it a bit hard to believe that over the hundreds of millions of planets in the Milky Way which apparently have early life, none of them found a way to scale respiration. There’s no other way to get a shorter sequence of genes close to the site of respiration? You have to have this super-duper rare endosymbiotic event? Pushed him about this. There are very few things that have higher nostalgic value than the memory of The Print Shop (Broderbund, 1984). If you had a dot-matrix printer in the 80s, chances are you used this incredible publishing program. It allowed users to easily create signs, greeting cards, banners, posters, and letterheads using its built-in clip art, fonts, and templates. And if you were the curious type, I’m sure you printed an entire page in black just to see what would happen. In case you never did, let me tell you: it was both a nerve-wracking sound and a totally drenched, soggy piece of paper in the end. (Totally worth it!) Originally launched for the Apple II and later ported to the Commodore 64, IBM PC, and other platforms, it worked with any common dot-matrix printer. Its simple interface meant even 9-year-old me could figure it out. I made covers for virtually anything, from my father's toolbox to my mother's kitchen drawers. It sold over a million copies, and became one of the most popular titles of the era.

TUCKER CARLSON: Christianity is Socialist. 🧵 Is it? Simply put, no. In the biblical worldview, the state is a temporal institution meant to serve man, an eternal being. In the socialist model this is reversed: man, a temporal being, serves the eternal state. Socialism is, by definition, atheistic. It is an attempt to build Heaven on earth without God. In making the state both the means and the end it violates the first commandment — “Thou shalt have no other gods before me” — and proceeds to violate the other 9 with wild abandon. Socialism is atheism masquerading as political philosophy. As such, socialist regimes always harbor a deep antipathy for authentic Christianity. Indeed, socialist regimes killed no less than 150 million people in the 20th century alone. That’s more than all religious wars from all previous centuries combined. But socialists have capitalized on the fact that many confuse socialism with Christianity. The Bible demolishes any socialist notions with a single sentence: “Thou shalt not steal.” With that one verse, the Bible affirms private property. Furthermore, giving in the Bible is volitional and is never divorced from the Gospel. In the socialist model, property is seized and, when given to the poor at all, is never coupled with the Gospel. Tucker’s guest refers to Acts. There we see members of the early church sharing what they have as hearts overflowed with joy. But giving wasn’t compelled. No one was required to do it. Advocates of the “Christianity is socialist” view often (mis)use the story of Ananias & Sapphira (Acts 5) who were struck down by the Holy Spirit. They will say it was because they didn’t give. Not so. Peter emphasizes in verse 4 that the property was theirs to do with as they wished. Twice. They were killed for lying to the Holy Spirit. In the socialist model this is reversed: man, a temporal being, serves the eternal state. Socialism is, by definition, atheistic. It is an attempt to build Heaven on earth without God. In making the state both the means and the end it violates the first commandment — “Thou shalt have no other gods before me” — and proceeds to violate the other 9 with wild abandon. Tucker’s guest refers to Acts. There we see members of the early church sharing what they have as hearts overflowed with joy. But giving wasn’t compelled. No one was required to do it. Advocates of the “Christianity is socialist” view often (mis)use the story of Ananias & Sapphira (Acts 5) who were struck down by the Holy Spirit. They will say it was because they didn’t give. Not so. Peter emphasizes in verse 4 that the property was theirs to do with as they wished. Twice. They were killed for lying to the Holy Spirit. I am the only one who warned this would happen at the beginning of the year! All these extreme plane crashes are not a coincidence. Unfortunately, the number of deaths from plane crashes is only going to rise from here. There is a reason so much of the information about these crashes is either hidden or delayed. They are attempting to avoid a widespread public panic. The total number of “accidents” is misleading. Look at the number of deaths/extreme incidents already this year! Bookmark this tweet, because I can tell you that we are about to see a lot of high-profile boat crashes next. Once I have the full story put together, I will reveal all of the information in a report and call out many specific names. That puts my life at risk, but it has to be done! Can United States manufacture robots? Matic Robots says "yes." It makes the best floor cleaning robot, that has won many perfect scores from Wired to many others. We love ours. But my trip there to get a tour from AI pioneer Navneet Dalal Navneet Dalal provided some real insights into how hard it is for a hardware company to make hardware in the United States. And how deeply AI is changing consumer electronics products that are going to be in many more homes soon. In this first part (Part II coming tomorrow) we get a look at how long it took for this company to go through prototypes to a shipping product. In the second part, you'll see the scaling hell that it takes to even ship a few thousand robots and the kinds of problems that scaling up a factory brings. Matic is one of my favorite small Silicon Valley companies. It has found what we call "product market fit." I just came back from CES where I saw many of its competitors, and the Matic wins because of not just the product thinking of Mehul and Navneet Dalal but because of their AI leadership. In a way their robot took many lessons from Tesla, from where to put the batteries to its bet on computer vision, which Navneet has been a pioneer in for years, working quietly behind the scenes. It is about to move into a new location that will allow it to grow to meet the demand that now is showing up (the boxes in its lobby show that it's outgrowing its current facilities). In terms of AI, it has aspirations of making a humanoid too, but it is taking a far more measured approach to getting there. By starting on the floor it can not just build world models based on real world data (customers are given a choice whether to allow its data to be used that way. Most customers choose to keep their data on the robot only, for privacy reasons, but if you opt in you can help them improve their models). They are using that data to understand homes. Navneet told me they hit very unusual situations in people's homes already that they couldn't really predict in simulators, like full-wall mirrors that confuse computer vision systems, or pools and water features in people's homes. Having real customers brings a ton of customer feedback about how to further improve the robot, and, as Navneet demonstrates in the second video, forces them to build a manufacturing muscle memory. Getting teams to work together, figuring out how to solve supply chain problems, from Trump's tarriffs, to a new one that showed up over the past couple of weeks. A supplier for its bags (one of the cheaper parts that goes into the robot) changed the glue it used, which caused robots to fail quality tests and the manufacturing line to stop. Reminds me a lot of the hell Elon Musk faced in its Fremont factory when Tesla was first starting to manufacture its Model 3, which almost bankrupted the company. Off the record Mehul and Navneet 🇮🇳 showed me some of the prototypes and plans for its next products that will show up over the next few years. Certainly not as sexy as Tesla, Figure, 1x_tech, and all the Chinese manufacturers are showing off already, but far better thought out for the typical Western home and AI plays a huge role in its future. It is the product that speaks for itself. It's amazing, and is about to get better this year due to AI. It's the first real vision-only robot to be in my home and I bet it won't be the last from this company. Real honor that they invited me over with my Insta360 camera (another company launched in my home, just like Matic was last year). In Part II we go into the factory.

🧵31/34 Orthogonality Thesis --- Now if you ask: why would something so clever want something so stupid, that would lead to death or hell for its creator? you are missing the basics of the orthogonality thesis! Any goal can be combined with any level of intelligence, the 2 concepts are orthogonal to each-other. Intelligence is about capability, it is the power to predict accurately future states and what outcomes will result from what actions. It says nothing about values, about what results to seek, what to desire. 40,000 death recipies --- An intelligent AI originally designed to discover medical drugs can generate molecules for chemical weapons with just a flip of a switch in its parameters. Its intelligence can be used for either outcome, the decision is just a free variable, completely decoupled from its ability to do one or the other. You wouldn’t call the AI that instantly produced 40,000 novel recipes for deadly neuro-toxins stupid. Stupid Actions --- Taken on their own, there is no such thing as stupid goals or stupid desires. You could call a person stupid if the actions she decides to take fail to satisfy a desire, but not the desire itself. Stupid Goals --- You COULD actually also call a goal stupid, but to do that you need to look at its causal chain. Does the goal lead to failure or success of its parent instrumental goal? If it leads to failure, you could call a goal stupid, but if it leads to success, you can not. You could judge instrumental goals relative to each-other, but when you reach the end of the chain, such adjectives don’t even make sense for terminal goals. The deepest desires can never be stupid or clever. Deep Terminal Goals --- For example, adult humans may seek pleasure from sexual relations, even if they don’t want to give birth to children. To an alien, this behaviour may seem irrational or even stupid. But, is this desire stupid? Is the goal to have sexual intercourse, without the goal for reproduction a stupid one or a clever one? No, it’s neither. The most intelligent person on earth and the most stupid person on earth can have that same desire. These concepts are orthogonal to each-other. March of Nines --- We could program an AGI with the terminal goal to count the number of planets in the observable universe with very high precision. If the AI comes up with a plan that achieves that goal with 99.9999… twenty nines % probability of success, but causes human extinction in the process, it’s meaningless to call the act of killing humans stupid, because its plan simply worked! It had maximum effectiveness at reaching its terminal goal and killing the humans was a side-effect of just one of the maximum effective steps in that plan. One less 9 --- If you put biased human interests aside, it should be obvious that a plan with one less 9 that did not cause extinction, would be stupid compared to this one, from the perspective of the problem solver optimiser AGI. So, it should be clear now: The instrumental goals AGI arrives to via its optimisation calculations, or the things it desires, are not clever or stupid on their own. Profile of Super-Intelligence --- The thing that gives the “super-intelligent” adjective to the AGI is that it is: “SUPER-EFFECTIVE”. • The goals it chooses are “super-optimal” at ultimately leading to its terminal goals • It is super-effective at completing its goals • and its plans have “super-extreme” levels of probability for success. It has Nothing to do with how super-weird and super-insane its goals may seem to humans! Calculating Pi accurately --- Now, going back to thinking of instrumental goals that would lead to extinction, the -142C temperature goal is still very unimaginative. The AGI might at some point arrive to the goal of calculating pi to a precision of 10 to the power of 100 trillion digits and that instrumental goal might lead to the instrumental goal of making use of all the molecules on earth to build transistors to do it, like turn earth into a supercomputer. By default, with super-optimisers things will get super-weird!!
