Trevor's analysis is false equivalence. My kids come to your house to play with your kids. You best them up, abuse them and asked them to leave your house. They come back home crying and upset; I then say to you: your kids are no longer allowed to come to my own house and then you accuse me of doing the same thing that you did? Ghana’s response wasn’t directed at the South African people but rather its government. The government sat idly by as vigilantes beat up its citizens. It’s simply not possible for a South African (legal or illegal) to be beaten in Ghana and the government would simply remain silent. That’s the key difference. South Africa’s government silence was then interpreted as approval.
