My favorite part about this scene is that Avon probably waited to see how Slim Charles would respond to String's demand. It's great the way Avon walks over to stand beside Slim, taking his side, and Stringer is left alone on the other side of the table, in his suit and tie, being scolded. Stringer tried to fly too close to the sun and got burned. Avon knew it was gonna happen but he loved string so much he let him play that game. Avon knew his place, stringer didn't. In a room full of gangsters, Stringer always seemed like a businessman, but in a room full of businessmen, he always came off a gangster.🎬🍿

Fun fact: when Omar asked the guy what he's in for and the guy says he's here on a 22-55, the guy was actually in prison for real at the time and he was actually waiting on a 22-55 hearing and he agreed to do the show.. Another fun fact is that guys name is Donnie Andrews and he is the actual man that the Omar Little character was based on.. Just a couple more reasons why the wire is best show of all time. I love how Omar was like, "Marlo? naw I never heard of him." No matter how hard Marlo tried, he could never get his name to ring bells like Omar or Avon. I love how this reminds one that Omar is only human. You can clearly see how terrified he was at the prospect of being in there alone. Another point that shows how nobody knows who Marlo is despite him trying his best to be known on the west side. Omar not only knew who Avon is, but knew who every single one of his soldiers is and how they work. THIS SCENE PERFECTLY SHOWS STRINGER LACK OF RESPECT FOR THE CODES! Avon was the only one who saw there was no reasoning with someone like Marlo. This is why I respect Avon he had a code Marlo doesn't care. I like that Avon wasn't losing his temper with String in this scene. He was empathetic to String's reasoning and still laid down the law. Look how Avon hates when his name is being attached to something he had no part of, whereas Marlo loved taking credit for stuff he had nothing to do with.🎬🍿

The fact is most drug dealers know that death and jail are the only end games to what they do. Stringer thought he was smarter than the rest and could actually make his story end differently. Notice how he refers the other guys being stuck in the game as if the same rules don't apply to him. Stringer thinking he was above the game is what caused him to make some of the moves he made and break the rules, which led to his demise. D was a body Avon wasnt ready to take even tho he was a liability, so "I killed your nephew" was more like i killed a nigga that you couldnt kill even tho you knew you had to. Stringer's ego was so wild he immediately focused on "not hard enough" and immediately dismissed the idea that he's not smart enough for the real businessmen. The irony of Stringer acting like a smart businessman, while doing nothing but making the wrong decisions is so poetic. Ironically, Avon said Stringer wasn't hard enough or smart enough but Stringer was so offended only by the hard enough remark he proved Avon right in making a dumb move that cost him. Avon was full of heart. He had buckshot in his arm and he still attacked stringer with everything he had, making no difference. String was outta pocket He let his emotions get the better of him.. he should have kept that secret to the grave. And back Avon in the war. One of the most telling aspects of Omar's character is the fact that all his allies will go to the grave to protect him. Butchie and Brandon were tortured to death for protecting Omar that's the definition of a people that would ride or die for you. Chris and Snoop's blind loyalty to Marlo makes no sense until you realize that they enjoyed dropping bodies. Chris and Snoop had no code either, they just needed Marlo to enable them while Marlo needed them to prop up his ego. Everybody else in the game was in it to survive. Marlo, Chris, and Snoop used the game as an outlet for their urges. Avon is willing to own up for Stringer's mistake, I don't see why people think Avon betrayed Stringer. Avon looked shook at soon as he seen Mouzone, but then he remembered that if Mouzone wanted to kill him, he wouldn't even have seen him. I like the fact that Brother Mouzone, is always calm and articulate when he speaks. He has an old-school mentality too, you can't bribe him with money and get him to change his mind. Most things that the average man would be interested in, does not interest him. He's easily one of the most ruthless guys on the show. But since he's a small guy dressed up with a bowtie, you wouldn't be able to tell.🎬🍿

I love the way Slim Charles looks at Cheese after Marlo picks him to be in charge. He basically connected all the dots at that moment. The irony about this is that as soon as Marlo is in jail, the co-op comes right back. And instead of having one guy in charge of the connect, they show Vondas meeting with three people from the co-op in the last episode because it's best not to have one guy monopolize it. The co-op is the only example of real lasting institutional change on The Wire and I believe a lot of people overlook that because the message that "the game is the game" gets drilled into you over the whole show. But change can happen.🎬🍿

Jason Day was asked ahead of The Masters whether he has any empathy for what Tiger Woods is going through and he gave a brilliant answer that a lot of people can probably agree with: “So yeah, in regards to Tiger, it just shows the human element and the human side of someone that is struggling with some sort of an addiction. He's not immune to it just because he can hit a golf ball really well. He's had 25 to 30 something surgeries, and when you're going through that many procedures, it's painful coming out of those procedures. I've had procedures done and I typically try and stay away from all that stuff because I just know that -- painkillers, there can potentially be a downfall to it. “Granted, when I look at that, I look at it and go, he's just a human being like everyone else and we have struggles. It's unfortunate, the only thing that I don't understand is that it's a little bit selfish of him to drive and put other people in harm's way, as well. “But when you're the player that he was and how strong-willed he is, he thinks he can do almost anything, and that's probably why he's probably driving and a little bit under the influence. “He was my hero -- he's my hero.
