Ironic to hear Stringer saying this considering he was in fact, enrolled in college and looking to ultimately legitimize his way out of the drug trade. The fact is most drug dealers know that death and jail are the only end games to what they do. Stringer thought he... was smarter than the rest and could actually make his story end differently. Notice how he refers the other guys being stuck in the game as if the same rules don't apply to him. Stringer thinking he was above the game is what caused him to make some of the moves he made and break the rules, which led to his demise. Stringer never had any respect for a street level drug dealer, I don't think Stringer ever really liked “the game”for me that was the biggest difference between him and Avon, Avon would have respected even the lowest of people under his command as long as they were doing their job.🎬🍿wshow more

Stringer’s biggest mistake was believing he could outgrow the rules of the world he came from. His intelligence helped him climb, but his arrogance ultimately became his weakness.

Stringer’s tragedy is that he understood the economics of the game better than almost anyone, but never accepted that the game also had its own unwritten constitution. Avon lived inside that constitution. Stringer kept trying to rewrite it.

Stringer could’ve left the game relatively unscathed. Avon as well. Stringer’s problem was trying to be two completely different people at the same time…and also arrogance/naivety. Imagine if Avon was as money hungry as Stringer…they may have ended up in a better situation.

My favorite part about this scene is that Avon probably waited to see how Slim Charles would respond to String's demand. It's great the way Avon walks over to stand beside Slim, taking his side, and Stringer is left alone on the other side of the table, in his suit and tie, being scolded. D was a body Avon wasnt ready to take even tho he was a liability, so "I killed your nephew" was more like i killed a nigga that you couldnt kill even tho you knew you had to. Stringer's ego was so wild he immediately focused on "not hard enough" and immediately dismissed the idea that he's not smart enough for the real businessmen. The irony of Stringer acting like a smart businessman, while doing nothing but making the wrong decisions is so poetic. Ironically, Avon said Stringer wasn't hard enough or smart enough but Stringer was so offended only by the hard enough remark he proved Avon right in making a dumb move that cost him. Avon was full of heart. He had buckshot in his arm and he still attacked stringer with everything he had, making no difference. String was outta pocket He let his emotions get the better of him.. he should have kept that secret to the grave. And back Avon in the war. Regardless of him telling Avon or not he was on borrowed time for setting up muzone. Wonder how this scene would have turned out if Avon wasn't wounded. Biggest advantage that Marlo had in this war was there was no turmoil in his crew. This battle that Avon and Stringer was fighting amongst themselves is just what Marlo needed. I really liked Stringer before he started backstabbing everybody. This scene just shows the respect that Avon and Stringer have for Wee Bay, instead of clipping him too, they hide him. They know he's just too valuable an asset and from his arrest down the road they were right, he took a bunch of charges on top of his murder because he knew one life sentence or 20, he aint gonna see the outside world ever again. People saying Wee-Bey never did anything, they're forgetting the fact that he shot Omar in the shoulder in Season One, while covering for Avon. The moment of sheer panic in that man's face was priceless. No wonder it became a GIF. I think the legendary meme face was Bey realizing the possibility that he would have to do life. The fact that the door guard didn't even recognize Stringer really shows how much he'd distanced himself from the street side of the organization. Really sets the tone for this scene. This scene perfectly illustrates where Slim fits in the ranks without actually saying it. High up enough to stay in the room for a real argument between Avon and Stringer, low down enough not to say a single word during it. Stringer said "do I gotta remind you who you work for" And then Avon came in to remind him who he works for. THIS SCENE PERFECTLY SHOWS STRINGER LACK OF RESPECT FOR THE CODES! Avon was the only one who saw there was no reasoning with someone like Marlo. This is why I respect Avon he had a code Marlo doesn't care. I like that Avon wasn't losing his temper with String in this scene. He was empathetic to String's reasoning and still laid down the law. This Georgia Bulldogs batter, Tre Phelps, was ejected after he hit a go ahead home run against Liberty in the NCAA Regional Final game in Athens. Phelps homered and has he starts to run the bases, the home plate umpire felt that he was taunting the Liberty dugout and he continued to celebrate all the way around the bases. You can see some Liberty players ask him “what are you doing?” I guess the umpire had seen enough. Georgia Head Coach Wes Johnson was also thrown out for arguing Phelps’ ejection. Many people said he was waving to his family and said it didn’t matter, that he should be allowed to celebrate and that you can’t eject a player for that. Others said they were glad he was ejected and that there is no place in the game for this type of behavior- taunting the other team. If I was his coach I would have been livid at him for acting that way. Respect the game, respect the players and act like you have been there and just play the game. Quit the theatrics. What do you think? Do you think the umpire was justified in ejecting him or do you think he had a right to celebrate?

This scene signifies how rare it is for Avon to visit the pit. You have to respect the guy, no matter how much money he makes or how 'normal' he tries to live his life, he'd always come by the towers and the Pit to make sure the operation was running smoothly. This scene was legendary for Avon. Gives Goosebumps vibes. Like the boogeyman is coming. You could tell that Avon was a streets guy and knew the game so well. It's almost like he's reminiscing and getting that nostalgic feeling back. They should've included Wee-bey in this scene.🎬🍿

John Leguizamo initially turned down the role for Benny Blanco four times as he didn’t want to get typecast as another Latin drug dealer. The role nearly went to Benicio del Toro. He eventually agreed to do the part under one condition; he was given freedom to improvise and make script changes that would alter Benny’s backstory. In the novel the film is based on, Benny was less layered and more of a simple, hot headed drug dealer. Leguizamo changed him in one fundamental way - he made him a Carlito Brigante superfan. Benny idolized Carlito from a very young. He grew up hearing stories about how he ran Spanish Harlem and how he was connected to the mob. He was so infatuated with him he's literally starstruck when he first sees him (see below). This is why Carlito’s dismissal of him was so devastating to Benny. He had built his whole identity around Carlito, only to be humiliated and brushed off. That humiliation leads to rage, which becomes the driving force of Benny’s character, and what ultimately leads to Carlito’s demise. Benny represents the greatest threat to Carlito: time catching up with him. He is, in many ways, Carlito as a younger man - without the honor or criminal codes that defined him. And this is why he’s so dangerous, and it’s why he’s dressed in red when we are first introduced to him, because in the world of Carlito’s Way, red signals danger…(1/5)
