before this bangs, i really liked superman. ppl have a revisionist about it now that i think is stupid. i just have very little confidence in the non gunn cinematic productions. supergirl obv looked like shit and was disappointing and clayface isn’t moving me. my faith is waining

to me it just feels like DC is gonna settle as the uglier, way more niche version of marvel. and marvel isn’t quite exactly apex cinematography so thats saying something. also sucks that the merger is creating so much instability. its just a tough situation all around

I think James Gunn plan of building around the justice league instead of just building up the justice league and go from there is killing a lot of momentum

I think he’s making some incredibly questionable decisions, but I also can’t imagine WB is throwing a ton of money his way. Despite some recent successes at the box office they’re still running lean, and DC is still too risky. Case in point with supergirl. I don’t think anyone was expecting it to pull insane numbers, but to do worse than the flash? And off the back of a relatively successful Superman? They just don’t have the incentive there. It’s their own damn fault for fucking around with the brand for too long, but I’d have to imagine that’s the logic they’re running with

@4rrestr yeah i mentioned this before. i think hiring gunn as the lead guy was a mistake. there’s too much volatility involved with his kind of content imo. you need someone to reign him in to see the bigger picture.
