The arrival of at least one Coronal Mass Ejection from the sun, brings the likelihood of enhanced geomagnetic activity over the next few nights. Aurora sightings are possible in northern areas of the UK with a lower chance of glimpses as far south as the Midlands.

If you watch long enough, a comet will appear. Before then, you will see our Solar System from inside the orbit of Mercury as recorded by NASA's Parker Solar Probe looping around the Sun. The video captures coronal streamers into the solar wind, a small Coronal Mass Ejection, and planets including, in order of appearance, Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Earth, Mars, and Jupiter. Between the emergence of Earth and Mars, Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS appears with a distinctive tail. The continuous fleeting streaks are high energy particles from the Sun impacting Parker's sideways looking camera. The featured time-lapse video was taken last year during Encounter 21, Parker's 21st close approach to the Sun. Studying data and images from Parker are delivering a better understanding of the dynamic Sun's effects on Earth's space weather as well as humanity's power grids, spacecraft, and space-faring astronauts. After a sleepy last week, the Sun seems to be waking up! The two X-class flares (at 2:04 and 2:22) came from “dueling” active regions on the east and west limbs (left and right sides) of the Sun. Their positions on the Sun’s “edge,” as viewed from Earth, means they weren't aimed towards our planet. It captures solar phenomena like coronal streamers, a small coronal mass ejection, and high-energy particles streaking past the camera. Visible planets include Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Earth, Mars, and Jupiter. A comet, Tsuchinshan-ATLAS, briefly appears with its tail. These observations help us understand how the Sun affects space weather, satellites, astronauts, and Earth’s power grids. Earth captures a small body. A temporary second moon. A conjunction of the small satellite, Earth's Moon, 3I Atlas, and the Sun... all in one motion. The correspondence cannot be dismissed as coincidence.
