Rust, to my knowledge, does not catch memory leaks. Memory can be requested in different places from where they are released. The "memory safe" part refers to the fact that memory cannot be accessed out of scope. Buffer overflows or out-of-index reads are damn near impossible.

Well, the leak is safe. Rust doesn’t guarantee that the programmer won’t write leaky code.

I don't know why, but I love seeing anything related to RUST blow up.

It's annoying how you are such a hater of Rust for no apparent reason. Btw memory leaks are not "unsafe" in memory safety parlance, and Rust explicitly does not claim to prevent memory leaks. Also it's literally alpha software, of course it's going to have memory leaks.

I figure that Rust is C++ for people who live in polycules.

Languages like C and C++ have fortify options in compilers (enabled by default in distros), have powerful sanitizers in GCC and Clang (for safe memory, math, alignment...) and even implementations like Valgrind that catch nearly all remaining memory bugs. Rust has salesmen. 🙄

This is only funny because of how a subgroup of crustaceans act online, but boy is it funny. Shit code is shit in any language.
