“Bahawalpur.” I still have chills in my heart from when I first heard that town’s name in late January 2002. For the 23 years since, I have reported on how Pakistani intelligence and military leaders have used that city — Bahawalpur — in the southern province of Punjab as a base for its homegrown domestic terrorists. When I heard India bombed training camps in Pakistan this week in Operation Sindoor, in response to a Pakistani terrorist rampage in India’s Kashmir state, I had one city’s name on my lips: Bahawalpur. Did India bomb Bahawalpur? It did. I knew then India was striking actual hubs for Pakistan’s homegrown domestic terrorism. Why do I know? My friend, WSJ reporter Danny Pearl, went to Bahawalpur in December 2001 with a notebook and a pen. Gen. Pervez Musharraf had just promised he was shutting down Pakistan’s militant groups after a strike by Pakistan’s terrorists against the Parliament in India, and Danny reported on the militant offices in Bahawalpur. He literally knocked on their doors. Dear Dr. Judea Pearl, this story is a window into Danny’s reporting enterprise. And because people will wonder: Danny was no cowboy. This was a calculated low-risk reporting trip because no journalist had been targeted for kidnapping in Pakistan. Around that time, Danny sent me an email: “I’m anxious to go to Afghanistan, but I’m not anxious to die.” What did Danny learn? The militant training camps were open for business in Bahawalpur. On Jan. 23, 2002, Danny left a home I had rented in Karachi, Pakistan, for an interview. I learned Danny’s fixer, Asif Farooqi, had arranged an interview for Danny through a man named “Arif.” Danny didn’t know it but Arif was the PR man for a militant group, Harkutul Mujahadeen. What was Arif’s hometown? Bahawalpur. The police launched a manhunt to find Arif in Bahawalpur. We learned Arif’s family faked a funeral for Arif. Police found him trying to board a bus in Muzaffarabad, across the country by Pakistan’s border with Kashmir. It is another town India said it bombed terrorist training facilities. Arif had handed Danny off to Omar Sheikh,a British-Pakistani dropout from the London School of Economics, radicalized in the 1990s in London mosques. He went to Pakistan to train in these militant training camps. Then he kidnapped tourists in India. He was caught and jailed but on Dec. 31, 1999, he was traded for hostages in the hijacking of Indian Airlines Flight 814. Omar Sheikh was freed with Pakistani terrorist leader Masood Azhar, whose family was allegedly killed this week by India’s air strike in Bahawalpur. Did Pakistan jail Omar Sheikh and Masood Azhar when they returned to Pakistan with a third terrorist, freed from India’s jails? No. Pakistan’s military and intelligence gave them safe passage. They used them as weapons against India. But in fact these domestic terrorists have waged war against innocents in Pakistan, like civil society activists, Benazir Bhutto, Punjab Governor Salman Taseer, schoolchildren and countless others. Their extremism has ruined Pakistan, and Pakistanis can’t blame America for creating the mujahideen to fight the Soviets in the 1980s. Pakistan has had a duty to dismantle those terrorist bases — for even the safety of its own people. What India is doing is a strategic attack on terrorist bases Pakistani military and intelligence should have eliminated but never did in their obsession to take over Kashmir. You will see parallels in the propaganda messages against India and Israel. Like Hamas, Pakistani terrorists crossed a border to kill. Now, Pakistani propagandists call themselves victims of their “fascist” “colonizer” neighbor. It’s the Reverse Uno strategy of moral inversion, just like Dave Portnoy got from the Temple student who won’t take responsibility for promoting the “HATE THE JEWS” sign. Don’t fall for it. Nations, communities and people must own up to their extremism, from Bahawalpur to beyond.

India’s crisis today is not a matter of perception, it is a collapse unfolding in real time. 175 days have passed since India’s conflict with Pakistan ended, a humiliating defeat that broke the illusion of India’s strength The Indian Chief of Defence Staff himself acknowledged the loss of jet fighters, yet Modi and the BJP continue to deny what the world already knows. This denial has become India’s greatest weakness & has cost India its credibility. From Washington to Beijing, New Delhi’s silence has replaced the swagger it once projected. Modi, who built his persona on global visibility, has vanished from the world’s major forums skipping ASEAN, UNGA, Egypt’s peace conference & every major summit where real diplomacy happens. Modi’s silence & absence from the world forums now speaks louder than any statement he’s ever made. President Donald Trump has mentioned India’s battlefield losses 55 times & each time, he has praised Pakistan’s leadership for its precision, discipline & courage. With every remark, the BJP’s wall of propaganda has cracked further, exposing the lies Modi built around a humiliating defeat. Then came the words that sent shockwaves through New Delhi “I don’t want to ruin someone’s political career.” Trump wasn’t offering courtesy, he was delivering a warning. Behind those words lies a truth Modi cannot face that Pakistan’s strikes broke India’s defences, dismantled its illusion of strength & exposed the reality his government has fought to conceal. Since the halt of the conflict, #Trump has twice welcomed Pakistan’s leadership to the White House, acknowledging Islamabad’s composure and command, while Modi once flaunted as the closest friend of Trump & #US has been pushed to the margins, ignored & irrelevant. Yet instead of addressing economic decay, Modi hides behind war theatrics issuing NOTAMs across half the country, staging large scale drills during election days & weaponising nationalism to distract from his failures. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s stature has grown. Its political & military leadership, praised for its composure & strategic foresight, now commands regional respect. Precision fires and strikes, as well as physical raids were directed against Taliban camps and posts, terrorist training facilities and support networks operating from Afghan territory, including elements linked to Fitna al Khwarij (FAK), Fitna al Hindustan (FAH) and ISKP/ Daesh. All possible measures were taken to avoid collateral damage and to protect civilian lives. As a result of these unrelenting operations, multiple Taliban locations were destroyed all along the border; twenty-one (21) hostile positions on the Afghan side of border were also briefly physically captured and multiple terrorist training camps, used to plan and facilitate attacks against Pakistan, were rendered inoperative. During overnight skirmishes, twenty-three (23) brave sons of Pakistan embraced shahadat while defending territorial integrity of our beloved country against this outrageous action while twenty-nine (29) soldiers are injured. According to credible intelligence estimates and damage assessment, more than two-hundred (200) Taliban and affiliated terrorists have been neutralized while the number of injured is much higher. The infra-structural damages to Taliban posts, camps, Headquarters and support networks of terrorists are extensive, all along the border and range from tactical to operational depth. We have noted with concern that this serious provocation has occurred during the visit of Taliban Foreign Minister to India - the biggest sponsor of terrorism in the region. In the interest of regional peace and security, we call upon the Taliban Government to take immediate and verifiable actions to neutralize the terrorist groups, inter alia, FAK, FAH and ISKP/ Daesh operating from their territory. 🚨🚨🚨Defending Ukraine's Skies🚨🚨🚨 🚨A More Cost Effective Way For Comprehensive Coverage For Ukraine’s Air Defence🚨 Ukraine’s skies have become one of the most heated contested battlegrounds in Europe. With relentless missile and drone attacks targeting cities, infrastructure, and civilians, effective air defence has become nothing short of a lifeline. Currently, Ukraine relies heavily on a limited number of high-end Western systems, including just six Patriot missile defence systems out of the promised 25.... For an example to the issue, Patriot air defence, while extremely capable, come at an extraordinary cost. Each Patriot system costing $1.1 Billion USD!. And an insane cost of $3 million and $5 million per missile, making their sustained use a massive financial burden, even with allied support. Additionally, other advanced systems, like the British Sky Sabre, have been deployed to provide valuable coverage. The SAMP/T system, which combines high-end radars and Aster missiles, has also contributed to Ukraine's defence. However, despite these critical contributions, Ukraine still lacks the scale of air defence needed to blanket its most vulnerable regions and protect all critical infrastructure effectively. If we want to protect Ukraine, we need something thats sustainable. Enter Gravehawk: A Game-Changing, Affordable Solution Purpose-Built for Ukraine. The British-developed Gravehawk air defence system which is quite literally 1,100 times cheaper that a Patriot air defence system. The Gravehawk air defense system has been specifically designed for Ukraine, prioritising both mobility and flexibility. Housed in a standard freight container, it can be effortlessly transported on the back of a truck, enabling rapid deployment or continuous mobility as required. A key advantage of the system is its separate control module, allowing operators to stay mobile and secure while overseeing its operations. When combined with the Gravehawk’s modern sensors and ground-based launch systems, they become a potent tool for defending Ukrainian cities and front lines whilst making easy work of incoming Shahed drones. But perhaps the most critical advantage is cost. Apparently that sentiment comes from an Indian team doing some rescue work in Türkiye, along with rescue teams from DOZENS of other countries --including of course Pakistan-- in the aftermath of an earthquake in Türkiye. What they're NOT repeating to the Indian public is that Türkiye was one of the first countries to send humanitarian aid, medicine and advanced medical equipment such as oxygen generators/ventilators to India when the country was being hit very hard during the early months of the global #COVID pandemic with thousands of deaths every day to save Indian lives. Remember, #NewDelhi BLOCKED tens of thousands of Social Media accounts, including those of major TV/newspapers from around the world, just to try and keep their complete and utter 🤦‍♂️HUMILIATION🤦‍♂️ by the Pakistani Air Force under wraps. Press freedom? No saar, India doesn't need that saar. Let's remember what happened, shall we?
