I still remember so many people laughing and mocking that Tesla was screwed going vision-only. And no one is even close to Tesla for solving generalized autonomy or generalized self-driving vehicles. No one's even close. Tesla self-driving version 14.2.2.2 gave up five times due bright sunlight. Is this the robotaxi version? What happens when there's no one in the front seat to rescue FSD when it gets scared of shadows and sunlight? No one knows whether or not safe Level 5 autonomy is possible with vision-only. If vision-only is possible then all the actual robotaxi companies could just stop using their LiDAR and radar. If it isn't, $TSLA is doomed.
