Here is my experience (in 4K) from earlier today in one of the world's first ever public Tesla Robotaxi rides in Austin, Texas with FSD Unsupervised! No-one is in the driver seat and the safety monitor in the passenger seat does not have a steering or pedals. It was awesome.

Who is stupid enough to believe that Elon and Tesla are even in the robotaxi race? They're watching from the sidelines as the real robotaxi companies scale exponentially across the world. Tesla is the only company that just can’t figure out safe unsupervised autonomous driving.

Tesla Robotaxi vs Waymo Race! Not only did the Tesla complete the route 20% faster than the Waymo using just computer vision, it dropped me off right in front of the destination while Waymo stopped across 5 parking spaces further away in the lot. Tesla AI team wins this one

We took the latest version of $TSLA Full Self Driving (13.2.9) on a 33 mile test route in Santa Barbara and FSD made 7 safety critical errors and 12 driving errors in 80 minutes. If you think your Tesla is about to become your own personal robotaxi you are completely deluded.

Uber CEO on Tesla using Camera Vision over LiDAR: “I think in the near-term it’s going to be very difficult, and Elon Musk would tell me I’m wrong, and never bet against him, but it’s my instinct — in the near-term it’s going to be very difficult to build a camera only product that has superhuman level of safety. Will it be possible? Quite possibly yes. If you can have instrumentations that include cameras and LiDAR ; the cost of Solid State LiDAR is only $400-$500— WHY NOT include LiDAR as well in order to achieve superhuman safety. So, possible? Yeah it will be — I don’t know when, but is possible the better product? I’m not sure. All of your partners right now are using a combination of camera, Radar and LiDAR, and I personally think that’s the right solution— but I could be proven wrong.”

If a Waymo lacked LiDAR and extra sensors, it wouldn't attract attention or be targeted like this. Camera Vision blends in seamlessly. Nobody bats an eye when a Tesla Robotaxi drives by.

And no one is even close to Tesla for solving generalized autonomy or generalized self-driving vehicles. No one's even close. With self-driving, the car becomes roughly five times more useful, but it costs the same to build. Can you imagine what would happen if a company were doing a 25% to 30% percent gross margins, but suddenly that same thing was five times more valuable. What would that do to the value of Tesla ? And the value of that car? It boggles the mind, actually. If you actually do the math on that, it's insane. There's also the Optimus program, which is our humanoid robot, where we will leverage our manufacturing expertise and the intelligence we've developed for self-driving to have a useful humanoid robot. The economy is fundamentally GDP per capita times capita. If you no longer have a constraint on capita because of a useful humanoid robot, it's not clear that there's any limit to the size of the economy. Once again Elon is lying about Tesla self-driving. FSD does not respond to hand signals, we tested it 14.2.2.5 and FSD ignored every hand signal we gave it. Not even Tesla's sole robotaxi responds to hand signals (see link in reply)

Elon Musk just dropped a Tesla bombshell in Davos. Insurance companies are now offering Tesla drivers 50% off if they use full self-driving. MUSK: “Recently some of the insurance companies have said that it is so safe, Tesla full self-driving is so safe, that they’re offering customers half price insurance, if they use Tesla full self-driving in their car.” Then he added: “I think self-driving cars is essentially a solved problem at this point.”
