An engineer would never have written 5^1 and doubtful they would write the numbers on the right, they would just count down in their heads.
An engineer wouldn't have wasted their time.
mathematicians teach engineers how to calculate.
You started with 5 and ended with 5. So if you did nothing you would have 5. *
But what do you use square roots for in practice at home?

No as an engineer writing that 5^1 is still waste of time. The next thing you are seeing on that paper is 5 and the cancellation.

It's the same hand, ergo the same person, ergo that person is both a mathematician AND an engineer, ergo its not VERSUS.

It just shows us again: There are many roads (ways) to get to the finish line (solution) & we need and could learn from each other how to do better.
