The Drama is now available on streaming and I highly recommend you give it a shot if you haven’t seen it in theaters. Robert Pattinson & Zendaya really impressed me & the story itself is strong. There’s something endearing about this film that I think will give it lasting power.

Matthew McConaughey has lost his fastball. It’s been years since he gave us something truly meaningful. I take no pleasure in writing that sentence - I love McConaughey & have prayed for a return to form for quite some time. But his latest film The Rivals of Amziah King is not what I hoped for & adds to McConaughey’s cold streak. Films like Mud feel like they’re out of McConaughey’s reach at this point in his career. I really hope I’m wrong.

Obsession (🌟🌟🌟🌟) is the 5th best film I’ve seen released in 2026 & it’s now streaming on demand. Inde Navarrette’s performance is Oscar-worthy & the fact this is a horror film shouldn’t hold her performance back from winning awards. I think Curry Baker’s future couldn’t be brighter. See this film if you haven’t, folks, it’s unbelievable.

The Panic in Needle Park is considered Al Pacino’s first major role in a feature film. This came out just one year before The Godfather but all the signs of a generational star are in this performance from Pacino. I strongly recommend you give this a shot if you haven’t seen it.

Michael Mann’s Blackhat is probably his most misunderstood film. I really enjoy this- I think the quality of production & filmmaking is high. I also think Chris Hemsworth gives a strong leading-man performance here. The story has its flaws, but the film overall is good.

Matthew McConaughey’s six year acting hiatus is over. He’s back this year with a new film titled The Lost Bus. The last time we saw Matt was here in the 2019 Guy Ritchie film The Gentlemen. I enjoy this movie more with every rewatch, especially McConaughey. Very glad he’s back.

Out of the Furnace isn’t a perfect film by any means- it has its flaws- but seeing Christian Bale & Casey Affleck share the screen in this film is utterly special & a reason to remember this film. Bale & Affleck each own Oscars. They’re also each known for their intensity, which is why they’re excellent scene partners. If you haven’t seen this film yet, I think you should toss it on your watchlist & give it a go one of these nights.

Anthony Hopkins is the oldest winner of the Oscar for Best Actor & this was his acceptance for the award back in 2021. His memoir - We Did Ok, Kid- is an excellent summer read. If you’re traveling this summer, I highly recommend you give Hopkins’ life story a shot. I love him.

Matthew McConaughey is back. His newest movie is the neo-Western crime thriller The Rivals of Amziah King & I’m pleased to see McConaughey back in the actor’s seat. I liked McConaughey’s performance in last year’s film The Lost Bus but he still hasn’t done anything that approaches The McConaissance. Here’s hoping we see a return to form from one of my favorite actors.
