Mattingly had never hit a grand slam before 1987 and never hit another afterward. He packed all six into that one season, setting an MLB record that Travis Hafner later matched.

My all time favorite player. He also hit a homer in 8 straight games that season. It is a travesty that he isn’t in the HoF

@IrishMike_2026 Ch. 11 memories with Donnie Baseball Bro!

I never hit one in all my years. A few 3 runners.

Was that Bruce Hurst as pitcher?

Its very weird now to see Yankee Stadium so empty then. The 1996-2000 run changed the entire franchise. They said at the time it was impossible for the Yankees to draw in the Bronx. They were wrong. Articles were written about how the Yankees couldn't stay in the Bronx because they'd never draw 3 million fans a season to go to there at the time. Well, every season (short of the covid year) they've drawn 3 million plus since 1999, even drawing 4 million plus in the last 3 years of the old stadium.

Not many talk about the juiced ball season of 1987. Seemed like everyone had career year over the fence

Don has the non PED record.

@chrisdimino u know this?

Every call I’ve ever heard of that HR is of the Red Sox TV call. Is there a Yankee call of that HR out there ?

Porch !

That’s amazing

The most amazing thing to me is how empty the stands were back then and today when is cost SIGNIFICANTLY more to attend a game the seats are always full

Imagine, 1/4 of the way to what is considered a "very good year" offensively with 24RBIs in 6 AB lol
